Why is the Seaway Valley News so biased towards the Conservative Party? – EDITORIAL

I once sat across from Rick Shaver who told me that the Seaway Valley News wasn’t bias as much as they simply print what is supplied to them, but this week I noticed a very strong bias.

Members of the Liberal Party are hosting MP and Hab Great Ken Dryden here in Cornwall.  kd

Now to me that’s news.   Just like if the local Conservatives were hosting Brian Mulroney or some other admitted cash taker.

There is no bleep about it in the paper, but there is a paid advertisement offering tickets to the event.

Turn the page and there is the local MP using his column; which should be about riding news, being used as an attack slur against the leader of the Liberal Party including a big bold slug line.

While I have my own personal political beliefs which lie a bit left of center I have no problems with printing a Conservative piece if submitted.   That’s why people can submit comments to any story.  It evens out the playing field a bit.

Why didn’t Rick Shaver cover Mr. Dryden’s coming to Cornwall?  Is he a Leaf fan?

Mr. Dryden will be in Cornwall Sunday June 14, 2009 at the Best Western Parkway Inn Cornwall from 2-4 p.m.   I hope to see you all there.
