Leafs Beat Detroit 5-4 – Fleury Cut – Niedermeyer to the Devils (Rob)

Not so busy night as Opening Day approaches.   Theo Fleury was cut by the Calgary Flames.  No  announcement yet as to whether he hangs on or retires.   I have a hunch he’s going to sign up somewhere.

The Leafs Nazem Kadri scored another goal.  The 18 year old wants to stay with the big club and is giving them a lot of reasons to keep him.

Boston nipped the Sens 2-1 and Rob Niedermeyer signed with the Devils which means Scott shouldn’t be far behind…

It looks like Peter Forsberg will come back to the NHL this season and give it another try.   As much as people think he’s going back to the very impressive Philly team, who I think are going deep in the play offs this year,  I don’t think he’ll end up there.

And if numbers alone decided things Jaroslav Halak would be the number 1 guy between the pipes for the Habs.  Kudos for Halak for keeping his gob shut and being a total professional while making the most of his chances.

Why the heck didn’t the Habs end up with Beauchemin again?
