Crowds stayed out of the Cold – Cornwall’s Impovershed No Shows at Event – CORNWALL ONTARIO

povA The flag was raised in front of the Justice building, but the impoverished decided not to brave the freezing, but sunny morning.   Less than 100 people huddled together and listened to speeches, poems, and messages from area activists and advocates.

fred Fred Cappuccino led the group in song on his auto harp.   Politicians in attendance were Cornwall City Councilors Elaine MacDonald & Bernadette Clement.  The event was hosted by NDP Nominee Darlene Jalbert and Lori Taylor.

There was a very strong speech read on behalf of Mayor Bob Kilger.     Fighting poverty is something we need to do more of in Cornwall.
