Final EOHU H1N1 Immunization Clinic on November 27

After 4 weeks of running H1N1 immunization clinics, the Eastern Ontario Health Unit will be holding its last community clinic this Friday, November 27^th from 2 to 8 p.m. The clinic is open to everyone aged 6 months and over. Residents who haven’t yet received their vaccine, or children who need a second dose, will still be able to get the vaccine after November 27^th through participating healthcare providers, the Centre de santé communautaire de l’Estrie, or at an Eastern Ontario Health Unit office.

“We’ve been pleased with the turnout at the clinics,” states Dr. Paul Roumeliotis, Medical Officer of Health. “Anyone who hasn’t yet received the vaccine is encouraged to get immunized. It continues to be the best way to protect yourself and others from getting ill with H1N1.”

Vaccine recommendations for children

According to the latest Ministry guidelines, children aged 6 months to under 3 years, as well as children between 3 and 9 years of age with an underlying medical condition, should receive two half-doses of the vaccine, given at least 21 days apart. Children who need a second dose after the November 27 clinic can receive their shot from a participating healthcare provider, the Centre de santé communautaire de l’Estrie, or at an Eastern Ontario Health Unit office. Healthy children between 3 to 9 years of age do not require a second dose.
