Heart and Stroke Foundation ready for “Heart Month

February is just around the corner and the Heart and Stroke Foundation is in full swing gearing up for their “Heart Month.” Throughout the month there will be countless events throughout SD&G and Prescott Russell area.

There will be 15,000 canvassers along with event coordinators who are going to try and beat last years record of 150,000$. This year’s goal will be 164,000$.

The Cornwall Square will be helping raise money this year by letting volunteers have gift wrapping booths. Throughout the entire month of February customers of the Square will be able to get their items gift wrapped in exchange for a donation of their choice. Also there has been space made available on the corridor wall leading to the washrooms that will be used for a mural. There will be small hearts for sale that people can write names of loved ones who are fighting heart disease or who passed away that will be displayed on this mural.

On February 4th at Chateau Cornwall, the Fire Department will send some of their men to serve tea to the residences. The title of this event is “Warm Your Heart Tea Party.” Rack-em up Billiards located at 1916 Pitt street north will be hosting a pool tournament dubbed “Billiards for Hearts.” This will be held on Feburary 27th, it will be a 9- ball tournament played under the world standardized rules. The entry will be 50$ with a portion going to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Also there will be raffle tickets for sale with the prize being a one night stay at the Ramada Inn.
