Canada Beats Slovak Team 3-2 – Going for Gold vs Team USA – February 27, 2010

Habs goal tender Jaroslav Halak opened a lot of eyes at the Olympics.   The plucky late round draft pick who’s been fighting to be the number one goalie for Montreal over 1st Round heir apparent Carey Price put up some amazing performances in the bright lights of an Olympics played in Canada.

Last night he and his Slovak team mates nearly overcame Team Canada losing 3-2 playing without sniper Marion Gaborik.     They didn’t and now Team Canada will have a showdown with Team USA who beat Finland 6-1 to also get into the Gold medal final.

It’s going to be a classic match although quite the weird one in that many of the players on either side are team mates in the NHL.

The Gold Medal Game will be Sunday!   Who will win?  Post your comments below.     And in another Olympic Hockey note my hockey pool team was crushed and I had paid off my side pool bet to CS before the games ended.   Congrats to the victors!    Wait till next time 🙂
