Hallockey 2.2 – Jaroslav Halak Stymies Penguins in 3-2 victory – series tied at 2 – Detroit clips Sharks 7-1 to Stay Alive NHL SCORES Cornwall Ontario – May 7, 2010

Cornwall ON – It was a wild game in Montreal, but at the end of the night it came down to one goal at a time one game at a time, and Montreal tied up their second round play off series at two by beating the defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins.

There were a lot of high points to the game although officiating was not one of them as the Penguins mauled the Habs with impunity and hardly a whistle call.

Sidney Crosby’s diaper rash didn’t keep him from playing, but he was stymied again with no goals on five shots.   After falling behind 2-1 Jaroslav Halak woke up and shut the Penguins down.

There were so many heroes on the night.  Hal Gill showing how valuable he truly is.   Josh Gorges playing over his head and leading the way, and Jordan Staal playing over ten minutes with a ripped tendon that surely require surgery after the play offs.

Tom Pyatt getting two points, Matt Darche contributing.   If Montreal wins this series it will have truly been a team effort, and if they can beat the Penguins it only gets easier as they would most likely face the Boston Bruins.

Detroit came back to live and avoided a sweep in their play off series utterly spanking the San Jose Sharks 7-1 keeping life alive for their season.  If any team could come back from a 3-0 deficit it’s The Detroit Red Wings.   This is a team that knows how to win which does seem an odd thing to say about a team that fell behind 3 games to 0, but there just are too many experienced champions on their squad.

Johan Franzen led the way with a Hat Trick.
