Coronation Street News – Kate Ford gets Cheeky for Peta – Betty Williams (Betty Driver) to Retires in 50th Anniversary Season – Cornwall Ontario – May 11, 2010

Cornwall ON – Betty  Williams has been on Coronation Street for 41 one years and as she nears her 90th year Betty Williams, the beloved actress and OBE is going to be hangup up her hot pots and retiring.     I can’t really imagine the show without her popping up every now again.

The show seems to be going through some big changes for their 50th anniversary, but it’s sad to me that they can’t just let actors like Betty just pop up every now and again as they interest and health allows rather than retiring them away as is happening with Betty and Bill Tarmey( Jack Duckworth).

And in rceent weeks new producer Phil Collinson has axed several high profile characters including Steven Arnold (Ashley Peacock), his onscreen wife Claire (Julia Howarth) and Vicky Binns (Molly Dobbs).

In other Corrie news Actress Kate Ford; the evil Tracy Barlow is back on the show and has done a new ad spread for PETA in the UK.

Kate certainly isn’t the kind of celebrity who usually strips-off for photo shoots, but she felt so strongly about the cause that, as she said, “I would never have dreamed of posing nude, but when PETA showed me the footage of the bears being shot and skinned just for the sake of these ornamental guards caps I decided to be brave and show some of my skin in the hope that the MoD will let the bears keep theirs.”
