Cornwall ON – My head’s a little puffy as I write this. We know how to party in Cornwall as over 20,000 attended the opening night of Lift-Off. I was in the VIP tent allegedly taking a night off and hanging out as our crack team of journalists hit the grounds.
Everyone’s spirits were high and as acting Mayor Denis Thibault shares in the video below Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off has come a long way in 14 years! Kudos to Chris Savard, the volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who made this possible and makes Cornwall Shine in July for all of Canada and the world to see.

I was chatting with one woman from Alberta who extended her stay just to attend Lift-Off and there were literally people from all over. The highlight of the first evening were Our Lady Peace and you could hear the crowd roar as the first notes of their performance wafted through the air.
Even Mayor Bryan McGillis from South Stormont showed up and had a few words to say.

Tickets are $20 a night or $30 for the weekend. The gates for the concert open at 4:30pm. Live music starts at 5:30pm

Tonight’s headline act is Randy Bachman. Lighthouse is opening and local band Winston Marley opens! Get there early to get a good spot near the stage!
Dude, I saw you there last night! OLP was pretty decent, but that was more for my wife than me. I am looking forward to Mr Bachman tonight…a true Canadian rock and roll icon.
