New Super Bug Migrating from India and Pakistan to the UK and now in North America – Cornwall Ontario – August 12, 2010

Cornwall ON – If Fall is coming there has to be this year’s untreatable Super Bug that should have us all trembling and sure enough there are reports of new bugs that are resistant to drugs we currently have.

“Because of medical tourism and international travel in general, resistance to these types of bacteria has the potential to spread around the world very, very quickly. And there is nothing in the (drug development) pipeline to tackle it.”

This raises an interesting question or seven.    Is it people in search of cheap boob jobs bringing back disease or is it medical industries spreading word of disease to keep business?  I know, that sounds very cynical, but we live in a very jaded world at times and the larger the amount of monies in question the wider the range of ethical potential weirdness.

I do know that after the H1N1 scare of last year that better hygiene leads to less health woes.    I still see too many food handlers holding plastic beverage containers at the neck which is where a lot of people drink from.   And people still are sneezing into their hands.   At one press conference this week some knob actually kept shaking hands with people even though he clearly had a cold and was sitting after sneezing away into tissue.
