Habs Lose in Pre-Season Opener – NHL Scores – Cornwall Ontario – September 23, 2010

Cornwall ON – Welcome back Habs fans!   The puck dropped for the first pre-season game.   Sadly Montreal suffered a bitter defeat at the hands of the Boston Bruins, 4-2 at the Bell Centre.    Carey Price gave up 4 goals on 10 shots, but there were lots of good signs.

Josh Gorges and Hal Gill were +1 for the night.   Jarred Tinordi looked good as did some of the other baby Habs who had ice time for the evening.   Max Lapierre scored a short handed goal and if the Habs are going anywhere this year plays like Max need to rebound from last year.

The best sign of the night was Tomas Plekanec leading Montreal with two points.

In other NHL pre season action; Sydney Crosby and the Penguins clipped the Detroit Red Wings 5-1; Toronto put their “A” team on the ice to stomp the Sens 4-1 in a 3 fight filled match; Washington stomped Columbus 5-2;  Tampa Bay doubled the Hawks 4-2; St. Louis was all over Minnesota beating them 5-1; LA over Colorado 4-2; Edmonton edged Vancouver 3-2 marking the return of Martin Gerber to the NHL; and The Ducks fed on the Sharks 5-2.

What do you think Canada?  What team looks the most improved so far?  You can post your comments below.
