Cornall ON – I love the arts. I truly am an artist which drive my poor wife nuts as money is rarely my focus or what drives me personally.
About a month ago a bit of magic happened on our sister radio station, Seawayradio.com and the Cornwall Cultural Committee was formed.
The goal was to create an artist driven group that could lobby to get a centre or centre’s built to serve the Art and Culture community.
I advocated focusing on saving The Port Theatre to be used as an interim centre and to help save this landmark; but sadly like any group there can be diverse goals, agendas, and mayhem.
It became apparent to me that this wasn’t the best path for me to take to work with and assist the Arts and Cultural community of Cornwall, Akwesasne, and the area; and for that reason I’ve resigned from the group and cut my ties completely with them.
This region has a rich cultural community. The music scene is bursting, visual arts are amazing, there are dance and theatre groups and I hope to work with many of them over the next year and help promote our arts and cultural scene.
There are many paths to Nirvana.

“There are many paths to Nirvana”. Don’t you mean – Pro 16:25 “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death”.
Or as the Lord Jesus Christ put it – Mat 7:13 -14 “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it”.
I am quite sure he didn’t mean it that way, and definitely didn’t need more scripture from you over the matter.. go continue to chase people down in the streets tom…

Grimalot – Jamie meant to say (since you are taking the liberty to interpret Jamie’s words so will I) – there are many ways to happiness, peace, tranquility of heart and soul. It is not the matter of which religion fits your fancy, no, that will not work! The Holy Word of God describes lost humanity thus – “But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked”(Isa 57:20-21).
Real, true and lasting peace comes only, I say only, because the only God given authority say so, from personal faith in the Risen Lord Jesus! Until the blood of His sacrifice is applied in your place and stead (as a ransom) there is no peace with God. Until the blood of His sacrifice is applied personally by God Holy Spirit to the sinner’s conscience, there will be no inter peace and joy!
“And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven”(Col 1:20).
Until the Prince of Peace comes to live in your heart by faith, you, and every other sinner is at war with God. All other man made ways will never bring peace between God and man, and peace within man’s own soul –
“How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”(Heb 9:14).
By the way, why should I go chase people on the streets, when I can do it right here! I like to do both, matter of fact.
It’s really really cool being a Pastafarian. All I need to attain total bliss is a big plate of spaghetti with my special Holy Sauce, and a big bucket of beer.

How’s the beer in your hell? In Pastafarian hell, the beer is stale, and the strippers all have STDs. Mind you, you pretty much have to kill somebody to go there and I’m not planning to do that.
Very short sighted. How quick you give up on a greater cause to fill your own wants. I want the port to stay as well, but it’s a theatre, not even close to being capable of class rooms and all that entails a learning/performing centre. Yesa there are many paths to Nirvana, but I want Cornwall to be there with me, regardless if I disagree. Also there are other heritage committees here in Cornwall. Talk to them instead of burning bridges for your own views
“My way or the highway” is no way to get anything done by committee anyway 😉
Brad people participate and leave committees for many diverse reasons. It’s exactly for the reason you just stated that I left. It takes a group to make a committee work. Not one person with a hidden agenda.
True… to say that there’s not more to the story would be foolish. The only reason you stated in this article for leaving was your conflicting ideas on the Port. Elaborate more then. Write what you mean then. Surly some may attack your opinion, like me, but if we are informed correctly and directly, the smoke cloud wouldn’t be left on your article to ask questions about. Truly, you have a right to say the truth regardless of consequence.
Sometimes Brad, smoke is better than grief and bother 🙂 There is room for everyone to help promote arts and culture.
