Cornwall ON – The Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre (CBEC) is now accepting applications for Summer Company 2011. Students between the ages of 15-29 years who are interested in learning more about business could receive up to $3,000 to start their own business.

Summer Company is a program sponsored by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT) and administered by the CBEC to encourage students to start and run their own business.

Participants receive hands on business training and are provided a mentor to guide them through the business stages and assist with questions they may have.

“If you are looking for an exciting business opportunity to do something you love, Summer Company is for you,” said Youth Coordinator Katherine Turgeon-Brunet. “Not only do you get to be your own boss, you will gain valuable entrepreneurial skills and funding to make your business a reality.”

The Summer Company Program has been successful in Cornwall and S.D. & G., having 15 Summer Company participants in 2010. Last year’s participants included university student Pascale Poirier, owner of Good Better Best Body & Bootcamp which offered fitness training, college student Jori Rourke, owner of Powder Blush Bomb which provided professional makeup services and high school student Noora Kassab, owner of Sunshine Smoothies which provided fresh summer snacks.

  1. Hi, I looked at the Summer Company Business Plan we have to fill out, It is a little confusing. In some of the sections, i have really no idea how to get that information. And I saw in some videos on your website saying that, all these people who were successful at the Summer Company had a mentor that helped them alot. But I don’t have a mentor! How do I get a mentor?
