Akwesasne Warriors of the Federal Hockey League Get Bigger – Sign Travis Stacey 6’4 225 Pound POWER FORWARD – January 24, 2011

Akwesasne Mohawk Territory – The Warriors responded to a team need.  Although the Federal Hockey League leaders beat Danbury convincingly in their Cornwall Appreciation evening at the Civic complex they lost all of their fights.  Sunday in their victory against a small Rome team they were fightless.

Basem Awwad, team owner,  announced the signing of Travis Stacey.

As per Club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Stacey was selected in the first round, 7th overall, by the Gatineau Olympics at the 2006 QMJHL Draft. Stacey made his mark in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in three seasons with the Gatineau Olympics. Stacey had seven goals and nine points in 99 games, along with 275 penalty minutes. Stacey also played for the Kahnawake Condors of the Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League up until now.  The 6’4” and 245 lbs winger will make his debut in the FHL with Akwesasne Warriors on the 28th of January at the Anowarakowa Arena on Cornwall Island.  Local fans remember Stacey from playing Lacrosse for the Akwesasne Jr A Indians last season.

Stacey has been racking up points in Junior hockey of late and said he’s:
