Death of a Hollywood Legend: Actress Jane Russell has Passed Away at 89 – February 28, 2011

Cornwall ON – February is the cruelest month and on its last day it snatched Hollywood Bombshell Jane Russell who has died at the age of 89.     Russell shot to fame in The Outlaw, a high budget film Howard Hughes built around her statuesque figure.

Russell had a long career and played against Marilyn Monroe in “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”.

She was born Ernestine Jane Geraldine Russell in Bemidji Minnesota, the only daughter of five children.

The family moved to California and while living in Burbank Ms Russell became a model and started to study acting  where her ample curves and striking looks were soon discovered.

Introduced once as “the two and only Jane Russell” Ms Russell packed a 38D-24-36 frame onto her 5’7  eclipsing most actresses of her time.

Her music lessons paid off as she also became a nightclub singer in the late 50’s in Las Vegas.

Unable to have children she adopted three and stated a group, World Adoption International Fund, which pioneered adoption of children from other countries.
