SD&G OPP McHappy Day Fund raiser and Police Blotter for Tuesday May 17, 2011

Lancaster ON – On Wednesday, May11, 2011, McDonald’s Restaurants hosted their annual “McHappy Day” fundraiser. SD&G OPP officers supported the cause at the Lancaster location by donating time behind the counter to serve customers. 

SD&G OPP Detachment Commander, Inspector Mike McDonell stated “This is a very worthy cause and an opportunity for the OPP to give back to the residents and communities that we serve”.

Locally, part of the proceeds will go to the “Children’s Treatment Centre”.

And the SD&SG OPP were busy too.  Here is the area police blotter for Tuesday May 17, 2011.  No Happy Meals for these folks!

CHARGES LAID

(South Glengarry) – On 15May11, at approximately 8:00am, SD&G OPP officers had occasion to conduct a traffic stop on County Road 18, South Glengarry Township.
The stop revealed that the 17yr old female driver (from South Stormont) was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
She was arrested and faces charges of:

  • Impaired Operation / Motor Vehicle
  • Exceed 80mgs / Motor vehicle

She is scheduled to appear 08June11 in Alexandria court.

TRAFFIC STOP NETS DRUGS
(South Stormont) – On 15May11, at approximately 4:30pm, SD&G OPP officers had occasion to conduct a traffic stop on Highway 401, South Stormont Township.

The stop revealed that the 52yr old male driver (Yves ROBERGE of Tring Jonction, QC) and his passenger (Guillaume GRENIER-GAGNE of Saint Frederic, QC) were in possession of approximately 2 kilograms of suspected marihuana.

The 52yr old driver faces charges of:

  • Trafficking Schedule II – Cannabis Marihuana under 3 Kilograms
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

The 26yr old male passenger faces charges of:

  • Trafficking Schedule II – Cannabis Marihuana under 3 Kilograms
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession Schedule I – Other Drugs
  • Fail to Appear/Comply with Appearance Notice, Promise to Appear or Recognizance

Both men were held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.

DOMESTIC INCIDENT
(South Stormont) – On 14May11, at approximately 7:00pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic incident on Highway 138, South Stormont Township.

The investigation revealed that a female and her 49yr old common-law husband were involved in a verbal altercation that resulted in the male assaulting the female.

He was arrested and faces a charge of:

  • Assault

He was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.

BREACHED CONDITIONS
(South Glengarry) – On 15May11, at approximately 4:30pm, SD&G OPP officers had occasion to conduct a traffic stop on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township.

The stop revealed that the 21yr old male driver from (Cornwall, On) was breaching his earlier release conditions by being in the company of his female passenger.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking x2

He was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.

CHARGES LAID
(North Dundas) – On 13May11, at approximately 11:45pm, SD&G OPP responded to a report of a threat on Victoria St. Chesterville, On.

The investigation revealed that a 26yr old male (Scott LANOUETTE of Ottawa, On) was involved in a verbal altercation with a group of people where a weapon was displayed.

The male was arrested and faces charges of:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Possession of Firearm, etc, while Prohibited

He was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.

  • 14May11 (12:30pm), SD&G OPP officer stops a west bound Toyota on Highway 401, South Glengarry….174km/h (posted 100km/h zone).

13May11 (11:00pm), SD&G OPP officer stops an east bound BMW on Highway 401, South Glengarry….159km/h (posted 100 km/h zone).
