Hot Friday At The Long Sault Farmer’s Market by Reg Coffey – 22 July 2011

Long Sault ON – It was a hot day but at least it wasn’t as hot as Thursday.  The sun was shining, the wind was blowing and the market gained another booth. A couple of the Summer Company vendors decided to give our little market a try on this day and they are a welcome addition.

Brad Pennell was there displaying and selling his artwork. Brad is also a budding author with his first book about to be published called Demongelic. If you stop buy his booth he can tell you all about it with you while you consider purchasing some of his creative artwork as bookmarks, t-shirts or prints.

Katelyn Alguire of KD Foods was also there sharing a booth with Brad. Katy sells some of the areas finest gourmet foods such as Levac Apiary honey, Glenagarry Fine Cheese cheeses and Mrs McGarrigle’s mustards, just to mention a few. These two young entrepreneurs added a new level of energy to our little market and they are a welcome addition.

As for the rest of us old hands, there were plenty of new fresh products available. The first of the season’s sweet corn was available at Avonmore Berry Farm stand, Ingleside Tomatoes stand was ripe with fresh picked produce,
Swiss Farmer Bakery had their usual deliciously tempting treats and fresh baked bread, Toi’s Thai food was preparing fresh spring and shrimp rolls.
And, yours truly, Reg Coffey had my new refreshing iced coffee available.
.
As you can see the Long Sault Farmer’s Market has a lot of local products to offer for a small market. I hope you can find the time on a Friday afternoon to come shop at our little market. We are open from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM every Friday until Thanksgiving. The market is located in front of the Long Sault mall, on the side of County Road 2, beside the volley ball court, where all the tents are, in front of the LCBO…….
