Cornwall ON – Here is your police blotter for the Cornwall Ontario area for Tuesday August 23, 2011

WARRANT

 

            Cornwall, ON- Adam Jaramiah-Paul Lacoste-Marshall, 19 of Cornwall was arrested on the 22nd of August, 2011 under the strength of outstanding warrants.  It is alleged that he failed to attend court on the 3rd of February 2011 and on the 14th of April, 2011 therefore bench warrants were sought. He was located and held in custody until court the following day.

 

Cornwall, ON- Shelley Mary Seguin, 38 of Long Sault was arrested on the 22nd of August, 2011 under the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that between the 11th of February, 2011 and the 16th of August, 2011 while bound by a Probation Order, without reasonable excuse failed to report to her Probation Officer. A warrant was sought and she was located. She was held in custody until court the following day.

 

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

           

Cornwall, ON- A 34 year-old Cornwall man was arrested on the 22nd of August, 2011. He was bound by a Probation Order with the condition to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour. It is alleged that on the 19th of August, 2011, he entered into an altercation with his mother when her assaulted her. He then proceeded to pour gasoline on her and uttered a threat. The male also prevented his mother to leave the residence during the altercation. The victim did not require medical treatment at the time of the incident. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with Assault, Assault with a weapon, Utter Death Threats, Forcible Confinement and Breach of Probation. He was located and held in custody until court the following day.

 

DOMESTIC MISCHIEF

 

            Cornwall, ON- A 21 year-old Cornwall man was arrested on the 22nd of August, 2011. He entered into an altercation with his 19 year-old girlfriend when he began to punch walls causing damage. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with Domestic Mischief Under $5000.00 and held in custody until court the following day.

 

DRUGS

 

            Cornwall, ON- Chelsea Prieur, 20 of Cornwall was arrested on the 22nd of August, 2011. It is alleged that Members of the Cornwall Community Police Service Street Crime Unit executed a drug search warrant shortly after 2:15 p.m. on the 10th of August, 2011 at a Gloucester Street residence. As a result of the investigation, she was found to be in possession of controlled substances. She was charged with 2 counts of Possession of a controlled substance and released to appear in court on the 13th of September, 2011.

 

OVER .80

 

            Cornwall, ON- Johanne Tassakos, 44 of Cornwall was arrested in the early hours of 23rd of August, 2011. It is alleged that she was operating a motor vehicle while being under the influence of alcohol. She was charged with Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content and released to appear in court on the 6thof September, 2011 to answer to the charges.

 

BREAK & ENTER

 

Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating a break and enter which occurred between the 21st of August, 2011 and the 22nd of August, 2011 at a Leonia Street residence. The suspect(s) gained entry to an unlocked side door and proceeded to steal MP3 Player, liquor, credit cards and personal documents. The suspect(s) also gained entry to the unlocked garage and stole a bike. Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating a break and enter which occurred between the 21st of August, 2011 and the 22nd of August, 2011 at a Bryden Avenue garden shed. The suspect(s) gained entry to an unlocked shed and proceeded to steal a pool timer and assorted pool supplies. MONEY SCAM

(Long Sault, ON) – The Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SDG) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police would like to remind people to be very careful of anyone requesting they wire money to assist an injured relative or one who has been arrested and requiring bail money to be wired. There are also several other scams where people are told they have won money but need to send some money first to secure their prize, Others want you to hold onto millions of dollars as their country is under siege etc… Over payment scams for internet purchases, the list is limitless.
SDG OPP have  received a  complaint of a scam where a suspect contacted an unsuspecting person and identifying himself as a relative or grandchild who is sick and is in dire need of cash to be wired through Western Union for medical expenses. Do not wire anyone any money if you are not sure who they really are. Please obtain as much caller information such as phone numbers, addresses etc …and contact police if you are unsure or contact another family member to verify if indeed the call is genuine.
