POLICE ACT HEARING UPDATE – Douglas Thompson Matter

 

Cornwall, ON –  The hearing of the Police Services Act Hearing involving the failure to notify the family of the death of Douglas Thompson will resume before the Hearing Officer Superintendent  (retired) Morris Elbers, on the 20th and the 21st of September, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. The hearing will be held at the Best Western Parkway in the Seaway Room located at 1515 Vincent Massey Drive in the City of Cornwall. Four officers, Sergeant George Knezevic, Acting Sergeant David Michaud, Constable Patrick Paquette and Constable Patrick Depratto, are charged under the Ontario Police Services Act. This hearing is open to the public.

POLICE ACT HEARING- Holland Matter

 

            Cornwall, ON- The Police Services Act Hearing of Sergeant Wayne Holland, a twenty five year veteran of the Cornwall Community Police Service, will appear before the Hearing Officer Superintendent (retired) Morris Elbers on the 20th of September, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. The hearing will be held at the Best Western Parkway in the Seaway Room located at 1515 Vincent Massey Drive in the City of Cornwall. It is alleged that on the 20th of September, 2010, Sergeant Holland neglected his duty in relation to an incident. He was charged with Neglect of Duty and served a Notice of Hearing alleging misconduct under the Ontario Police Services Act. This hearing is open to the public.

WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON- A 19 Year-old Cornwall female was arrested on the 13th of September, 2011 under the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that on the 12th of September 2011 an Order for Committal warrant was sough. She was located and held in custody until court the following day. Her name was not released as per provision under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Cornwall, ON- Frank Kalvin Leaf, 28 of Akwesasne was arrested on the 13th of September 2011 under the strength of an outstanding warrant. He was bound by a Recognizance with the condition not to have direct or indirect contact with a certain person. It is alleged that on the 20th of April 2011, breached he Recognizance by having contact with a certain person and a warrant was sought. He was located and held in custody to await court on the following day.

 

WEAPON, THREATS AND BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON- A 14 year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 13th of September 2011. The youth was bound by a Recognizance with the conditions of not to associate or communicate directly or indirectly with three certain individuals. It is alleged that on the 9th of September, 2011 she brandished a knife and threaten another youth with it. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. The youth was located and charged with Assault with a Weapon, Utter Threat to Cause Death, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Breach of Recognizance. She was held in custody until court the following day.

 

BREACH OF PROBATION

 

Cornwall, ON- A 17 year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 13th of September, 2011. The youth was bound by a Probation Order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and a curfew set in consultation with your probation officer and your mother to be inside her residence from 11 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. daily. The youth was also bound by a Recognizance with the relevant conditions to reside with your surety and abide by the rules of that residence and not to be away from your residence between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. unless in the company of your surety. It is alleged that on the 9th, 10thand 11th of September, 2011 he failed to follow house rules and curfew. Police were contacted and an investigation followed.  He was located and charged with 7 counts of Breach of Recognizance and 4 counts of Breach of Probation Order.  The youth was held in custody until court the following day.

 

BREAK & ENTER

 

Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating a break and enter which occurred between the 12th of September, 2011 and the 13thof September, 2011 at a First Street East residence. The suspect(s) gained entry by an open window and proceeded to steal a wallet, personal document’s, Xboxs, controllers, headset, charging station. Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating a break and enter which occurred between the 12th of September, 2011 and the 13thof September, 2011 at a Guy Street business. The suspect(s) gained entry by prying open a door on a garage and proceeded to steal a red tool box, numerous tools, rolls of wire and light fixtures. DOMESTIC ASSAULT & BREACH

 

            Cornwall, ON- A 20 year-old Cornwall male was arrested on the 12th of September, 2011. He was bound by two Probation Orders with the condition to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour. He was also bound by an Undertaking with the relevant condition to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour. It is alleged that on or about the 21st of June, 2011 he assaulted his 15 year-old girlfriend. He was charged with Domestic Assault, Breach of Probation and Breach of Undertaking. He was held in custody until court the following day.

 

BREACH OF UNDERTAKING

 

            Cornwall, ON- A 17 year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 12th of September, 2011. The youth was bound by an Undertaking with the conditions to Keep the Peace and be of good Behaviour, to reside at a certain group home and to abide by the house rules. It is alleged that on the 3rd of September, 2011 left the residence and failed to return. He was located and charged with 3 counts of Breach of Undertaking. He was held in custody to appear in court the following day. His name is not being released as per provision under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

ROBBERY

 

            Cornwall, ON- Michael Nogeeshik Isaac, 38 of Cornwall was arrested on the 13th of September, 2011. It is alleged that shortly prior to 4:00 a.m. on the 13thof September, 2011 he attended a 46 year-old acquaintance’s residence when an altercation occurred. As a result of the altercation, he assaulted the 46 year-old and stole a laptop. Police were contacted and an investigation followed.  He was charged with robbery and held in custody until court the following day.

 

BREAK & ENTER

 

Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating a break and enter which occurred between the 9th of September, 2011 and the 11thof September, 2011 at a Prince Arthur Street. The suspect(s) gained entry by an open window and proceeded to steal numerous Wii, PSP and PS2 games, a blue Acer Aspire Laptop, a PlayStation consol, a dark blue Acer Aspire laptop and an iPod touch. FAMILY DISPUTE

(North Stormont) – On 12Sept11, at approximately 7:00pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a family dispute on Duff’s Corners Road, North Stormont Township.

The investigation revealed that a male and a 69yr old female were involved in a verbal altercation that resulted in the female assaulting the male.

She was arrested and faces charges of:

  • Assault with a Weapon x2

She was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.
