Long Sault Farmer’s Market Report for July 27, 2012 by Reg Coffey

CFN – It was a good day for the market on Friday, not too hot, not too windy, a few clouds and lots of shoppers. If you read the market reports I have been filing then you know that I wasn’t here last week. I was pleasantly surprised to find that in my absence we had added another new vendor and the corn was ready.

Our new vendor of the week, (OK, last week), is Rubicon Farms with fresh blueberries grown in Avonmore. I bought a small container but then my wife had to buy another one because I had eaten the entire package before she got to the market after work.

There’s Corn!

And then there was corn! I know I missed the first week of corn but I’m not missing anything this week. Pictured above you can see Andrew from Avonmore Berry Farm re-stacking the corn trying to keep up with demand.

Only coffee beans today.

How can I talk about the market without mentioning my own product, coffee. You may notice that there are no carafes on the table with hot coffee. I was having a little trouble with my generator so I had to disappoint a few customers who were looking for a hot cuppa. Fortuntely the majority of my customers come looking for fresh roasted coffee beans to brew at home.

What is a market without the shoppers? Here you see a couple checking out the canned goods at Linda’s Garden Goodies.

Next week you can beat the Saturday crowds by coming to the Long Sault Farmer’s Market on Friday afternoon from 2 – 6 PM. You can see what’s new and fresh and you will be free to enjoy yourself all day Saturday instead of running around shopping.

I hope to see you there.

  1. What a nice market, and with a view of the water. How great is that? Awesome!! Wish it was closer to me. I would really, really like to try some of that Thai Food.
