CFN – While in Ottawa I had a chance to chat with Dr. Evil himself, Keith Beardsley. Keith was kind enough to give us a year end report card of the leaders of each Canadian Federal Party, but also looked briefly into the future.

On our PM Stephen Harper.

Keith also said that Green Party leader Elizabeth May handled herself well in Question Period and should just keep plugging away.

It’s interesting how easily Harper’s bills and personalized adjustments to policies walk through the House of Commons. Part of that simply comes from having the majority of seats in the house, having more MPs to force legislation through. Adding to privilege in numbers, is Parliament’s archaic provisions favouring a ruling party. Prorogue whenever backed into a corner? It’s like immunity.
I agree the House Leader is responsible for imposing order in the House. The sarcastic chiding plays more into the hands of Conservative arrogance.
I’m surprised the Etobicoke Liberal had to bring his own case to court for byelection, as well as the Council of Canadians in its current challenge of six ridings.
The NDP sitting back in the House and chanting “2015′ “2015″ doesn’t accomplish much in the meantime.
