CFN – Ottawa Sens fave Chris Neil was one assist away from a Gordie Howe Hat Trick as his Ottawa Sens, in spite of missing Jason Spezza, stomped the Habs 5-1.   Chris Phillips picked up his first of the year.  Mika Zibanejad picked up his first NHL goal along with Jim O’Brien and Daniel Alfredsson.    Tomas Plekanec picked up his 4th of the year for Montreal.

Mr. Neil also tangled with Mr. Prust.

It was Ryan White and Zack Smith which set the tone for the gritty first period.

PK Subban surely would’ve been an interesting element to the mix, but was not dressed yet.   Peter Budaj really failed in his first appearance of the year.

Roberto Luongo upped his stock as he earned a shut out in Vancouvers 3-0 romp of the Avalanche.   New comer Jason Garrison scored his first goal for Vancouver along with Zach Kassian and Maxim Lapierre.  Paul Stasny only has 1 assist in six games for the Avalanche.   That’s gruesome for the coin he’s pulling down.

It took a shoot out, but the Hawks unbeaten streak ends as six as Minnesota edged them 3-2 in spite of Chicago out shooting them 32-25.

Finally number one draft pick Nail Yakupov scored his 4th of the year in OT for Edmonton as they defeated the Yotes 2-1.
