Are PK Subban’s Days Numbered in Montreal? Will Canadiens GM Mark Bergevin Trade his Troubled Star?

bergyCFN – Habs GM us facing his first real acid test over the PK Subban contract.   Mr. Subban, the extremely talented D man appears on the verge of being traded now.   It’s in Mr. Bergevin’s benefit though to wait out offers and not pull a  Patrick Roy panic deal.

P._K._SubbanUltimately you need to build a Stanley Cup contender with players that want to be there and are committed.   PK not signing after the off season and then not following fellow Rangers D man Michael Del Zotto in signing a 2 year deal clearly shows that he is not committed to the fans of Montreal and the Canadiens as an organization.

And with his blessing of talent there are 29 more teams out there that would love to have him play for them.   The question is who will Mr. Bergevin’s dance partner ultimately be and will he wait out the best offer as Vancouver GM Mike Gillis has with Roberto Luongo or  panic like his predecessors in Montreal.

Mr. Bergevin’s Montreal chapter of his career will be made by this situation.    While this scribbler isn’t sure if the clock has rung for PK being able to return to the dressing room of the Habs, that bell certainly is close to ringing.

Los Angeles, Edmonton, Philadelphia, Anaheim, Chicago, Dallas, Phoenix, San Jose, Tampa Bay, more or less have what it would take to get young Mr. Subban.

What do you think Hockey fans?  Will PK ever wear the Habs sweater again?  You can post your comments below.

  1. PK is a good player with lots of potential but he needs to stop mugging to the fans and media and focus on his game and his team mates. His statistics are not there yet and a bridge contract would be suitable. He’s not worth $6 million a year. Who’s he kidding? Montreal loses nothing by waiting. He loses money and endorsements. He’s not a free agent. I like PK but he has 2 years to prove himself and earn an elite contract and he needs to settle down. I hope Meehan isn’t giving him bad advise.

  2. After 3 games the Habs have given up only 4 goals. And only 1 at even strength. Of the 9 goals they scored 4 came from their Dmen along with 5 A. I know it’s still early but is PK missed? So far, advantage management. There obviously is a personality concern and by PK holding out it doesn’t help his cause with mgmt. And I’m sure it was noted by mgmt that on opening night PK was at a Raptors game. Sure doesn’t engratiate him with his teammates as well. Let some other team sign him to a 6 yr/50M+ deal. He still has plenty to prove and hopefull Habs can get some talented player in return. Soon they’ll be chanting PK Who?
BTW, Eller is another one that might be used as trade bait should Galchenyuk & Gallagher stick. Therrien never liked his soft play and showed it after only the first game.

  3. Getting rid of PK would be a no brainer . Play the man & watch him
    go & grow .
