Cornwall PoliceWARRANT

Cornwall, ON- Dean McLaughlin, 20 of Cornwall was arrested on February 4th, 2013 under the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that on January 22nd, 2013 he failed to attend court and a bench warrant was issued. He was located and released to appear in court on March 5th, 2013.

Cornwall, ON- Gareth Griffith, 27 of Cornwall was arrested on February 4th, 2013 under the strength of an Order of Committal. It is alleged that on January 23rd, 2013 his surety was revoked and an Order of Committal was sought. He was located and held in custody until court the following day.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH WEAPON & BREACHES
Cornwall, ON- A 19-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on February 4th, 2013. He was bound by Probation Order with the conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not to associate/contact/hold any communication directly or indirectly with his 19-year-old girlfriend except with her written revocable consent. He was further bound by a Recognizance with the relevant conditions to not be away from my residence except as follows: with surety or surety spouse, for employment purposes, to attend Court/Probation/to meet with counsel, or for attendance at school, and to not associate with persons known to you to have a criminal record or youth court record. It is alleged that on February 4th, 2013, while away from his residence, he got into an altercation with his 19-year-old girlfriend when he assaulted her. A 20-year-old male acquaintance attended during the altercation when the male ran at him with a knife in hand. The victims did not require medical treatment. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with Domestic Assault, Assault with a Weapon, 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Recognizance and 2 counts of Breach of Probation Order. He was held in custody until court the following day. His name was not released as it would identify the victims.

                                              THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE

(South Dundas) -On 01 Feb13, at approximately 10:00am, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police (SD&G OPP) officers responded to a report of a theft of a vehicle on County Road 18, South Dundas Township.

The investigation revealed that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) attended a residence and removed a 2003 Monte Carlo Ford pick-up truck.

The investigation is ongoing.

 

                                      RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE

(South Glengarry) – On 01 Feb 13, at approximately 7:19pm, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police (SD&G OPP) officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township.

The investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Trenton, Ontario last month.

The 19yr old male driver (Christopher O’CONNOR-COUTURE of Quinte West, On) and his 17yr old male and female passengers, also from Quinte West, Ontario were arrested.

The driver faces charges of:

–       Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

–       Possession of schedule II Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams

–       Drive motor vehicle-no licence

He is scheduled to appear 03Apr13 in Alexandria criminal court.

The female passenger faces charges of:

–       Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

–       Possession of schedule II Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams

She is scheduled to appear 03Apr13 in Alexandria criminal court.

The male passenger faces charges of:

–       Possession of schedule II Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams

–       Theft of motor vehicle

–       Failure to comply with sentence or disposition

He was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.

 

                                      IMPAIRED DRIVER

(North Dundas) – On 02 Feb13, at approximately 2:22am, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police (SD&G OPP) officers observed a motor vehicle pass through a red light and continue to travel at a high rate of speed on County Road 43, North Dundas Township.

The investigation revealed that a 31yr old male (Jeffery POS of Merrickville, ON) was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

The vehicle stop was conducted and the male driver was arrested.

He faces charges of:

–       Impaired Operation / Motor Vehicle

–       Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content

–       Drive Disqualified

–       Take motor vehicle without consent

–       Race motor vehicle

–       Drive while under suspension

–       Red light-fail to stop

–       Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

He is scheduled to appear 14Feb13 in Cornwall court.

                                                 

                                             REFUSAL

(South Stormont) – On 02 Feb 13, at approximately 2:27pm, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police (SD&G OPP) responded to a traffic complaint southbound on Highway 138, South Stormont Township.

The vehicle was located a short time later. The 32yr old male driver (Robert CARTER of Ottawa, ON) refused to provide a breath sample for the roadside screening device upon request from police.

The driver was subsequently arrested and faces charges of:

–       Fail to provide breath sample/approved screening device/peace officer demand/motor vehicle

–       Operate motor vehicle without insurance

He scheduled to appear 05Mar13 in Cornwall court.

 

                                        DOMESTIC INCIDENT

(South Glengarry) – On 02Feb13, at approximately 10:00pm, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police (SD&G OPP) officers responded to a report of a domestic incident on Andrew Street South Glengarry Township.

The investigation revealed that a female and her 49yr old common-law spouse were involved in a verbal altercation. Further investigation revealed that on a previous occasion the male had assaulted the female.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

– Assault

– Assault with a weapon

He was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.

 

                                      FIRES – NOT SUSPICIOUS

(North Dundas)-  On  03Feb13,  Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police (SD&G OPP) officers as well as the North Dundas Fire department responded to two separate fires.

The first fire SD&G OPP attended was located at Rae Road, North Dundas Township. The fire occurred at approximately 11:57am. Upon arrival of the SD&G OPP a house trailer was fully engulfed in flames. The fire was deemed not suspicious. No one was injured and the damage is estimated at approximately $10,000 and believed to be caused by electrical issues.

The second fire was a structure fire of an outbuilding located at Lillico Road, North Dundas Township. The fire occurred at approximately 5:24pm. The SD&G OPP provided traffic control while the fire department subdued the fire. The fire was deemed not suspicious and accidental caused by welding done within the outbuilding. No one was injured and the damage is estimated at approximately $40,000.

 

                                         STOLEN VEHICLE

(South Dundas) -On 03Feb13, at approximately 11:24am, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police (SD&G OPP) officers responded to a report of a theft of a vehicle on Norgaard Road, South Dundas Township.

The investigation revealed that sometime on 01Feb 13 between 8:00am and 6:15pm unknown suspect(s) attended the property and removed a 1999 Skidoo and approximately $190 worth of tools.

The investigation is ongoing.

 

                                  STOLEN/RECOVERED VEHICLE

(North Dundas) – On 03Feb13 at approximately 10:30pm the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police (SD&G OPP) responded to a report of a theft of  motor vehicle from the parking lot of Papa Gus Restaurant, Chesterville, North Dundas Township.

The investigation revealed that around 10:30pm unknown suspect(s) attended the property and removed a 2006 blue Chevy Impala from the restaurant parking lot.

On 04Feb13 at approximately 12:09am the SD&G OPP and North Dundas Fire department responded to a vehicle fire on Baker Road, North Dundas Township. The investigation revealed it was the same vehicle that had been stolen the previous day.

The investigation is ongoing.
