IBM & AMBE Spring Break Camp at OPG Visitor Centre in Cornwall Ontario Teaches Kids to Soar! VIDEO
CFN – I had almost as much fun covering the AMBE Spring Break camp for kids from Akwesasne at the OPG Visitor Centre in Cornwall Ontario than they did. I wanted to grab one of their electronic kits and make spin wheels fly!
IBM teamed up with a score of corporate giants, BMO, SNC Lavalin, OPG, and ENGAGE to capture the imaginations of about 75 kids from Kindergarten to Grade 8!
Jack White, a project manager for IBM who lives in Cornwall and Rukhsana Syed talked about the day.
The students spent three days learning, playing, and who knows…maybe one day they might end up working for a company like IBM helping change the world?
IBM brought down note book computers for the kids to work on as well as electronic kits for them to build projects like the one that made the wheel fly in the video above.
The good news is that they are hoping to run the event next year after the success of this camp and I think that maybe events like this might alert giants like IBM to the opportunities and talent here in the Cornwall region.
Have you checked out the OPG Visitor Centre and the displays present at the waterfront facility? It’s free!
Wouldn’t it great for them to set up a small campus or office here in Cornwall?
