House Fire Leads to Death Police Blotter for Cornwall Ontario Region for Monday Sept 30, 2013 OPP OPS

Cornwall, ON – The Cornwall Fire Department was called to 77 11th St East at 6:47 this morning in response to a single detached dwelling fire. The fire was extinguished and the body of a deceased person was discovered.  It is still unknown at this time if the death was as a result of the fire. The Ontario Fire Marshall, as well as members of the Cornwall Community Police Service are continuing to investigate.  It is still unknown if foul play is suspected in the fire or the death.  The deceased is a male who will not be identified as the next of kin have not been notified.

UNLAWFULLY AT LARGE

 

Cornwall, ON – A 17 year old Cornwall male was arrested on September 28th, 2013.  He is bound by a Probation Order with the relevant conditions to not access internet sales sites, abide by the rules of his residence and keep the peace and be of good behaviour.  It is alleged that he escaped the custody of a local youth residence.  Police were contacted and the youth was apprehended with stolen property, some of which he had attempted to sell on the internet.  The youth was charged with Escape Lawful Custody, 3 counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and 3 counts of Breach of Probation.  He was remanded into custody.

IMPAIRED

 

Cornwall, ON – Joseph Jovi Merpaw, age 26, of Cornwall was arrested on September 29th, 2013.  He was found to be operating a motor vehicle in the area of Eleventh Street West and Churchill Street while under the influence of alcohol.  He was taken into custody and an investigation followed.  He was charged with Impaired and Over .08.  He was released to appear in court on October 15th, 2013.

FRAUD

Cornwall, ON – Lindsay Archambault, age 19, of Cornwall, was arrested on September 29th, 2013.  She is bound by a Probation Order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.  It is alleged that between August 28th, 2013 and September 4th, 2013, she deposited 8 forged cheques into her account at a Brookdale Avenue bank ATM.  She subsequently withdrew the money from the ATM.  Police were contacted and an investigation followed.  The banking institution suffered a  loss of over $1500.  The woman was charged with 8 counts of Uttering a Forged Document, 8 counts of Fraud Under $5000, and Breach of Probation.  She was released to appear in court on October 15, 2013.

 

Cornwall, ON – Randy Campeau, age 41, of Cornwall was arrested on September 29th, 2013, on the strength of a warrant.  He was bound by an Undertaking with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.  It is alleged that on March 23rd and 24th, 2013, he made 2 empty envelope deposits at the ATM of a Brookdale Avenue bank.  He subsequently withdrew the money from the ATM.  The bank suffered a loss of over $1100.  The man was charged with 2 counts of Fraud Under $5000 and 2 counts of Breach of Probation.  He was released to appear in court on October 15, 2013.

THEFT OVER $5000

 

Cornwall, ON – Cody Cryderman, age 26, of Cornwall was arrested on September 30th, 2013.  It is alleged that he tried to take a quantity of Copper Cable from a Boundary Road business.  He was apprehended by police who were in the area investigating for this type of offence.  He was charged with Theft Over $5000.  He was released to appear in court on November 7th, 2013.

THEFT UNDER $5000

 

Cornwall, ON – Donna Marsolais, age 40, of Cornwall, was arrested on September 29th, 2013.  It is alleged that on September 25th, 2013, and September 29th, 2013, she took several items from within a Water Street East department store and exited the business without making any attempt to pay for the merchandise.  Police were contacted and an investigation followed.  The woman was charged with 2 counts of Theft Under $5000.  She was released to appear in court on November 5th, 2013.

(North Dundas) – On 27Sept13, at approximately 11:45pm, SD&G OPP officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere (R.I.D.E) spotcheck at the junction of Kyle Road and County Road 13, North Dundas Township.

Officers observed a vehicle approach the spotcheck and when they attended they found that the 20yr old male driver (Kyle BEEHLER of Russell Township) was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

– Impaired Operation / Motor Vehicle / Alcohol
– Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content / Motor Vehicle

He is scheduled to appear 10Oct13 Cornwall court.

(North Dundas) – On 27Sept13, at approximately 7:30pm, SD&G OPP officers had occasion to conduct a traffic stop on County Road 7, North Dundas Township.

The stop revealed that the 33yr old female driver (Shelly HUTT of North Dundas Township) was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

She was arrested and faces charges of:

– Impaired Operation / Motor Vehicle / Alcohol
– Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content / Motor Vehicle

She is scheduled to appear 10Oct13 in Cornwall court.
(North Dundas) – On 28Sept13, at approximately 3:45am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on County Road 31, North Dundas Township.

The investigation revealed that a 24yr old female driver (Laryssa BLACK of South Dundas Township) was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

She was arrested and faces charges of:

– Impaired Operation / Motor Vehicle / Alcohol
– Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content / Motor Vehicle

She is scheduled to appear 15Oct13 in Morrisburg court.
TRAFFIC STOP NETS DRUGS

(South Stormont) – On 27Sept13, at approximately 3:00pm, Highway Safety Division OPP officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere (R.I.D.E) spotcheck on the west bound exit on Highway 401, South Stormont Township.

The check resulted in the seizure of approximately 23grams of suspected marihuana. The 21yr old male driver (Yan VEILLEUX-TROTTIER of Valleyfield, QC) and his 25yr old male passenger (Erick PRIMEAU of St-Stanislas De Kostka, QC) were arrested and face charges of:

– Possession Schedule II Cannabis Marihuana

Both men are scheduled to appear 26Nov13 in Cornwall court.

– 27Sept13 (3:00pm), SD&G OPP officer stops an eastbound Ford on Highway 401, South Dundas Township…..160km/h (posted 100km/h zone).

(Ottawa)—The Ottawa Police Service Guns and Gangs Section is leading the ongoing investigation into the incident at Roy Kennedy Public School yesterday where a man entered the school with an air gun.

The arrested male remains at a local hospital, as part of a 72-hour assessment.

Charges are pending by the Guns and Gangs Section. There are no further details available at this time.
