The Last Day of Summer at the Long Sault Farmer’s Market by Reg Coffey – Sept 21, 2013

20Sept13

CFN – It was the last day of summer and it was a great day to be out on the grass in Long Sault. The number of vendors was down a little bit with Islandview Buffalo Farms taking the day off to attend the Plowing Match and Ingleside Tomatoes missing in action. However we did have Our Lady of Good Counsel Bake Sale Fundraiser occupying the community service spot this week. You can get more information on their cause by watching the video.

I don’t know if you noticed my oops moment in the video but I do admit to having a brain fart when I mentioned the time in the second segment. I kept saying that the time was 11:20 when it actually was 01:20.

We still have 3 more Fridays of market left this year so don’t give up on us yet. There will still be lots of produce available for your dining pleasure as well as all the bakery goodies, Thai food, jams, jellies and sauces, chocolate and fudge, and, of course, fresh roasted coffee.

The Long Sault Farmer’s Market is open from 2 PM to 6 PM on Friday afternoons until October 11. You will be able to get those seasonal vegetables and fruit for your Thanksgiving dinner.

I know that there will be a few pumpkin and apple pies available. You can claim that you slaved over a hot stove all day to bake them for your family and guests. No one will know and no one will tell. What happens at the market stays at the market.
