Moped Kicking in Cornwall Ontario – POLICE BLOTTER for Tuesday Oct 29, 2013

            Cornwall, ON – Cameron Brassard, 51 of Cornwall was arrested on October 28th, 2013 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that the man failed to attend court on October 24th, 2013 and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On October 28th, the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.

 

Cornwall, ON – Jordan Benedict, 27 of Akwesasne was arrested on October 28th, 2013 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that the man was wanted on a warrant for driving offences and on October 28th, 2013 while entering the port of entry was taken into custody by customs officials. He was turned over to Cornwall Community Police and transported to Ottawa where he was held in custody.

 

Cornwall, ON – Michael Leaf, 38 of Akwesasne was arrested on October 28th, 2013 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that the man failed to attend court on February 27th, 2007 and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On October 28th, 2013 the man was arrested by Akwesasne Mohawk Police for an unrelated matter and was later turned over to Cornwall Community Police for the warrant to be dealt with. The man was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.

 

BREACH, MISCHIEF, THREATS

 

            Cornwall, ON – A 47-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on October 28th, 2013 and charged with mischief, threats and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on September 27th, 2013 the woman attended her 50-year-old ex-boyfriend’s residence and threatened to damage his car at which point she kicked over his moped causing minor damage. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On October 28th, 2013 during their investigation the woman was located at her residence, taken into custody and charged accordingly. She was then held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

 

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

 

            Cornwall, ON – Lindsay Archambault, 19 and Brandon Bush, 21 both of Cornwall were arrested on October 28th, 2013 and charged with theft under $5000, and the woman also faced an additional charge of breaching an undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on October 28th, 2013 they both attended a Brookdale Avenue store and attempted to removed Halloween costumes and a cop badge without paying for the items. Staff members confronted the couple and contacted police. During their investigation police took both into custody and charged them accordingly. Both were given a future court date.

 

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, ASSAULT CAUSE BODILY HARM, MISCHIEF

 

            Cornwall, ON – A 44-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on October 28, 2013 and charged with two counts of assault, assault cause bodily harm and mischief. It is alleged that the man was responsible for the following:

  • In April, 2013 the man pushed his 47-year-old girlfriend into a railing causing a cracked rib
  • In June, 2013 the man punched her in the face, chest and arms then kicked her in the head
  • On October 28th, 2013 during an argument the man punched his girlfriend in the head then pulled the phone out of the wall when she called police.

 

Police attended the residence and began an investigation. During their investigation they took the man into custody and charged him accordingly. The man was then held for a bail hearing.

His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

 

THEFT UNDER

 

            Cornwall, ON – Kellen Sunday, 29 of Cornwall was arrested on October 29th, 2013 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged that on October 14th, 2013 the man attended a McConnell Street construction site and removed various metal without permission. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation on October 29th, 2013 the man was spotted walking on McConnell Avenue by police and was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released with a future court date.
