            Cornwall, ON – Kyle Gumbley, 27 of Alexandria was arrested on November 29th, 2013 on the strength of a warrant. On November 29th, 2013 police attended the Cornwall Court House as it was learned that the man was being held there for an unrelated matter and that there was a warrant for his arrest. The man was arrested on the outstanding warrant and was held for a bail hearing.

 

Cornwall, ON – Angel Dore, 36 of Cornwall was arrested on November 29th, 2013 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that the woman failed to attend court on November 26th, 2013 as directed and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On November 29th, 2013 the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody then released with a future court date.

 

Cornwall, ON – Johnathan Beauvais, 20 of Cornwall was arrested on November 29th, 2013 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that the man failed to attend court on November 26th, 2013 and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On November 29th, 2013 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody and released with a court date of December 3rd, 2013.

 

BREACH

 

            Cornwall, ON – Deborah Cooper, 43 of Cornwall was arrested on November 29th, 2013 and charged with breaching her undertaking for having failed to sign in with Cornwall Police as directed. It is alleged that the woman failed to sign in as directed on November18th, and 25th, 2013 and an investigation ensued. On November 29th, 2013 the woman was located at her residence, taken into custody and charged accordingly. She was then held for a bail hearing.

 

Cornwall, ON – Scott Flaro, 38 of Cornwall was arrested on November 29th, 2013 and charged with breaching a prohibition order for having been where persons under the age of sixteen are present or can reasonably be expected to be present. It is alleged that on November 16th, 2013 the man attended the Santa Clause parade. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On November 29th, 2013 during their investigation the man was located at his residence, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

 

Cornwall, ON – Justin Pawis, 21 of Cornwall was arrested on December 1st, 2013 and charged with breaching a recognizance for being out past curfew. It is alleged that on December 1st, 2013 during a routine bar check police located the man at a local bar. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and transported to police headquarters where he was held for a bail hearing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

MISCHIEF

 

 

Cornwall, ON – A 45-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on November 30th, 2013 and charged with mischief, public mischief and breach of a probation order for failing to keep the peace and failing to notify change of address. It is alleged that on November 30th, 2013 the man was involved in an argument with a 49-year-old female and during the argument turned off the power to the house then disconnected the power source outside the residence. The intoxicated man then contacted police to attend the area for gunshots. Police attended and an investigation ensued. During their investigation they located the man, took him into custody and charged him accordingly for making a false report to police ( gunshots), mischief and breach of probation as it was learned that he moved without notifying the proper agency. The man was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

 

ASSAULT, BREACH, THEFT

 

            Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 1st, 2013 and charged with assault, theft and breach of a probation order for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on December1st, 2013 the man was involved in an argument with his 24-year-old girlfriend while at her residence when he punched her in the head and left with a small amount of her money. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation they located the man at a nearby residence, took him into custody and charged him accordingly. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

 

ASSAULT CAUSE BODILY HARM, THREATS

 

            Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 1st, 2013 and charged with assault cause bodily harm and treats. It is alleged that on December 1st, 2013 the man was involved in an argument with his 46-year-old mother when he threatened to punch her then proceeded to punch her in the mouth causing her teeth to loosen. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation they located the man at a Gloucester Street address, took him into custody and charged him accordingly. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

 

WARRANT

 

               Cornwall, ON – Liginthan Mahendrarajah, 30 of Toronto was arrested on November 28th, 2013 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that the man was involved in a robbery on April 17th, 2012 at an Ellen Street residence and his whereabouts was unknown. A warrant was then obtained for his arrest. On November 28th, 2013 Toronto Police Service located the man, took him into custody and contacted Cornwall Police who returned the man to Cornwall for a bail hearing.

The man is facing several charges as a result of the investigation including:

  • Three counts of forcible confinement
  • Two counts of assault
  • Two counts of threats
  • Two counts of assault with a weapon
  • Criminal harassment
  • Extortion

 

THREATS

 

            Cornwall, On – A 33-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on November 28th, 2013 and charged with two counts of threats. It is alleged that on November 28th, 2013 the man contacted his 37-year-old ex-girlfriend and told her that he was going to throw a brick through her window and kill her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation they located the man in the area of his ex-girlfriend’s house, took him into custody and charged him accordingly. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

BREACH

 

            Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman both of Cornwall were arrested on November 27th, 2013 and charged with breaching an undertaking for having communicated with each other and failing to keep the peace. The man was also breaching a probation order for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on November 27th, 2013 police attended a Guy Street address to check on the well being of the female and found that she was in the company of her boyfriend and that both were bound by conditions of no contact with each other. Both were taken into custody, charged accordingly then transported to police headquarters where they were held for a bail hearing.

 

IMPAIRED, POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

 

            Cornwall, ON – Jason Rintoul, 31 of Smith Falls was arrested on November 28th, 2013 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of November 28th, 2013 during a traffic stop in the area of Vincent Massey Drive and Power Dam Drive police found the man to be operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. During the traffic stop the man was also found to be in the possession of a small quantity of marihuana. He was arrested, charged accordingly and is scheduled to attend court on December 17th, 2013.

SIU Investigates Firearm Injuries to Man in Toronto

Mississauga (30 November, 2013) —

Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is probing the circumstances surrounding the injuries sustained by a 34-year-old man in Toronto early this morning.
Preliminary information indicates the following:
• At approximately 2 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2013, Toronto Police Service  (TPS) officers became involved in an interaction with a man on the fourth floor of an apartment building located at 177 Mutual Street;
• The man sustained gunshot wounds and has been taken to St. Michael’s  Hospital for treatment.
Five investigators and three forensic investigators are investigating this incident.  At this point, one subject officer and five witness officers have been designated.
Anyone who may have information regarding this case is asked to contact the Unit at 416-622-1965 or 1-800-787-8529 ext. 1965.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault. Under the Police Services Act, the Director of the SIU must

  • consider whether an officer has committed a criminal offence  in connection with the incident under investigation
  • depending on the evidence, lay a criminal charge against the officer if appropriate or close the file without any charges being laid
  • report the results of any investigations to the Attorney General.

(North Glengarry) – On 28Nov13, at approximately 5:00pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic incident on Main St. Alexandria, On.

The investigation revealed that a female and her 49yr old husband were involved in a verbal altercation that resulted in the male threatening the female.

He was arrested and faces a charge of:

– Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm

He was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.
(North Glengarry) – On 29Nov13, at approximately 02:00am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic incident on County Road 10, North Glengarry Township.

The investigation revealed that a male and his 23yr old girlfriend were involved in a verbal altercation that resulted in the female assaulting the male.

She was arrested and faces a charge of:

– Assault

She is scheduled to appear 10Dec13 in Cornwall court.

(North Stormont) – On 27Nov13, at approximately 8:30pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a mischief on Highway 138, North Stormont Township.

The investigation revealed that a male youth had become aggressive and damaged his parent’s residence.
