Cody Ceci Scores OT Winner for 1st NHL Goal – Is GM Bryan Murray Calgary Bound? by Jamie Gilcig

CFN –  Cody Ceci may be an emergency call up for Ottawa, but he’s making an impression and impact as his first NHL Goal defeated the very large, fast, and talented St. Louis Blues (who have one of the coolest NHL jersey’s ever! ceci first goal

Ceci was victimized in the Sens loss to the Kings Saturday, being on ice for some goals given up by Craig Anderson, but the youngun has been getting manly minutes which paid off in the OT Win!

In 3 games Cody has 1 goal, is +1, and has six shots.5 blocks, and 5 hits.    In those 3 games Ottawa has beaten Buffalo 2-1, lost to the Kings 5-2, and defeated St.Louis 3-2 which for this squad is pretty darn good.   He was +2 for both Buffalo and St.Louis and sucked back a -3 for LA.  He’s also blocked 5 shots and is nearly averaging 20 minutes per game of ice time.

The big question now for GM Bryan Murray is can they possibly send Ceci down as the team is in the fight for a play off spot with each game being huge?

Hand cuffed by budget he has little wiggle room and his biggest trade card, goalie Craig Anderson, can’t seem to get his mojo working well enough to up his trade value.

If Ceci stays and continue to produce that takes some pressure off of Erik Karlsson and gives some wiggle room for the other Senators D men.    Ceci has been paired up with savvy vet Chris Phillips and it’s helping both players at this early point.

The biggest question of all in Ottawa is how to get Jason Spezza sorted out.   His -10 is cause for concern when Kyle Turris is running at +12.   Both are notching points ; but the match ups 404px-Jason_Spezzaclearly are showing some issues when it comes to Spezza playing against tougher competition.

After all this is a team that just let their heart and soul go in Daniel Alfredsson; could the Sens deal away #19 too?

While some of the blame can be laid on wingers like Milan Michalek not being up to snuff this season to date, Ottawa needs to find a solution for their Captain who sucked back a -2 in the Sens win over the Blues.

And something also that’s cause for concern for Ottawa fans is that GM Bryan Murray has not signed a new contract.  With both Calgary and Buffalo not rushing to sign their new GM’s is this something that should be worrying Sens fans?    Methinks so….
