Cornwall PoliceFRAUD UNDER $5000, UTTER FORGED DOCUMENTS, THEFT UNDER

 

Cornwall ON – Shawna Mitchell, 35 of Cornwall was arrested on March 21st, 2014 and charged with fraud under $5000, two counts of utter forged documents and two counts of theft under $5000. It is alleged that during the months of January and February, 2014 the woman issued two checks that were stolen to someone she knew and in one occasion accepted money in return from that person. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 21st, 2014 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service spotted the woman walking on First Street in the area of Guy Street. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on April 17th, 2014.

 

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on March 21st, 2014 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of a probation order for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on February 26th, 2014 while visiting at a friend’s house on Henry Street the youth took several clothing items that did not belong to him. Police were called and an investigation ensued. On March 21st, 2014 the youth attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court at a future court date. His name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

OBSTRUCT, THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Bradley Johnson, 40 of Cornwall was arrested on March 21st, 2014 on the strength of warrants and charged with obstruct. It is alleged that on January 3rd, 2014 the man attended a Brookdale Avenue store and removed a quantity of DVDs making no attempts to pay for the items. The man was then confronted by the Loss Prevention Officer and fled the area. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation it was learned that the man was also in breach of a probation order along with a recognizance and undertaking order for failing to keep the peace and failing to notify a change of address. A warrant was requested for the arrest of the man as his whereabouts were unknown. On March 21st, 2014 while in the area of York Street and Second Street police were speaking to the man on an unrelated matter when the man identified himself to police as another man. He was subsequently arrested for lying to police and on the strength of the warrants. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

Ontario Provincial Police News Portal [STORMONT DUNDAS and GLENGARRY] Barn Fire / Theft / Racing Law Infraction 2014-03-24

(North Stormont) – On 21Mar14, at approximately 2:30pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a barn fire on County Road 12, North Stormont Township.

South Stormont Fire department attended the scene and extinguished the blaze, a number of chickens and sheep perished in the fire.

The fire has been deemed non-suspicious in nature, there were no reported injuries.
THEFT

(North Glengarry) – On 21Mar14, at approximately 8:00pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a theft on Fair St. Maxville, On.

The investigation revealed that while the owners of several parked vehicles were in the arena unknown suspect(s) broke into various vehicles and removed money, credit cards and personal identification.

The investigation is ongoing.
