CAM TOW Files Complaint Against Cornwall Police Service Over Over CPS Contract

CORNWALL Ontario – Local tow firm CAM TOW are filing a complaint against the Cornwall Police Service over issues related to the contract given to another operator.

In particular they allege that the contractor, Metro Towing, is charging much more than the fees awarded for flat towing in the contract and for storage fees.

There are also allegations that there are other issues such as scanners in the tow trucks that they suggest violate the contract.

The policy is that when police show up to an incident they are supposed to display a card with all the towing firms available and not automatically feed business to any one firm.

Council also passed a new by law governing tow truck operations that CAM TOW feel are dinging them and other companies with tickets in an unfair manner contrary to the spirit of the by law.

Cornwall Police Staff Sgt Kurt Fraser responded with a firm no comment while representatives for Metro Towing did not respond after our initial conversation.

We will be updating this story as more information becomes available and if you feel you’ve been unfairly charged for any towing incident and wish to share it with our viewers email info@cornwallfreenews.com

  1. I wish Cam Tow good luck in this one. I know Gord Cameron and I think this is one fight he’ll put a lot in to win. Some industries in Ontario are regulated (energy, taxi, milk, wheat, etc.). But the towing and gas prices are not. It’s time for the towing and gas prices to be regulated. Natural gas and electricity are regulated in Ontario and gas prices aren’t?? Gas is an energy product it should be placed under the same regulation as natural gas and electricity. Gas pricing is regulated in Nova Scotia, they have to apply for price increases. The towing industry as well should be regulated. We are constantly seeing horror stories of drivers being gouged. That being said whenever I need a tow I call Cam Tow as they are the least expensive in the city.

  2. support locally owned and operated businesses, they have lived here, grown up here, established themselves here, trying to make an honest dollar here. they are our friends and to probably most of us have been for decades. in any business there is bound to be gougeing, but for council to allow and actually support it is absolute discrimination. i side for gord cameron, i knew his father, another upstanding gentleman!!! you go gord, you’re the man to do it

  3. Metro Towing employees may be from Cornwall, but the company is from Ottawa. I’d rather deal with local owners and operators.

  4. If these allegations from Cam Tow about Metro are true I wouldn’t be surprised if Metro doesn’t cleans up it’s act. But it’ll keep it’s close relationship with the CPS. The car driver should be making the decision on which towing company to call, not the police.

  5. lol metro towing are {MODERATED} two scanners in it ive seen it

  6. CITY TOW BEST ONE IN CORNWALL GUYS

  7. To the guy who thinks he knows metro if he knew anything at all ask him where metros manager came from it wasn’t cornwall. He should get his facts straight before you run your mouth ask no towing!!!!

  8. From what I can gather Metro is an Ottawa based business with a Cornwall branch. Not uncommon in the towing and other businesses.

Actually Ms Thorne there are a number of reasons why a comment doesn’t make it through. It can be offensive; not identified, caught in our spam filter, or the person could belong to a hate group and post screen caps making herself look like an utter idiot…

  10. “Deleted” or not published?? There is a difference. Jamie will print things he doesn’t agree with, however he will not publish personal attacks on someone else.

Sharon we do not allow any statements that can be potentially litigious. We are not here to allow people to metaphorically beat on each other. That chases away viewers.
