The City of Cornwall would like to advise motorists and businesses that a section of Boundary Road will be closed on Wednesday, April 9th and Thursday, April 10th in order for CN to complete repairs to the rail crossing.
Boundary Road will be closed between Marleau Avenue and Industrial Park Drive while the repairs are completed. Traffic will be detoured via Marleau Avenue, McConnell Avenue and Industrial Park Drive.
CN intends to remove the loose concrete panels at the crossing and replace them temporarily with more wooden planking. They will also be lifting the north track.
CN is scheduled to completely reconstruct this crossing (including new gravel base, new ties, new rails, and new crossing surface) later this spring or early summer. The crossing surface product that CN will be installing as part of the reconstruction will be made of recycled plastics. It is the same product that has proven successful at the Tollgate Road crossing, which CN reconstructed in 2012.
