CORNWALL Ontario – River Kings Part Three!   The Fat Lady apparently might not have sung in Cornwall Ontario after all as Real Estate Agent and City Council Candidate Brock Frost is attempting to broker a deal to keep the River Kings in Cornwall!

I chatted with Brock and hockey guy Mitch Gagne who were busy working on Brock’s big Summer Party and fundraiser for CAS while Gokan Karakus of Shoeless Joe’s prepared for the eatery’s  World Cup event.

They have teamed up with Shoeless Joe’s helping feed the crowds expected at his place at 16984 Headline Road on June 28th ahead of Lift Off and Ribfest.

Winston Marley will be performing and much mayhem, merriment; and great eats from Shoeless Joe’s should make this a great time and a percentage will be donated back to CAS in Cornwall.

I put the guys on the spot as the River Kings have failed twice now because of the political decisions to give full rink revenues to the Cornwall Colts whose poor players now have to pay to play while the River Kings have to pay full freight and need more revenue to at least break even which the team has not done in two years in spite of the crowds supporting the team.

It should be interesting to see how this plays out at there’s lots of time to get prepared for the next season if Mr. Frost can make some magic; or write a really big cheque!

Bernie Villeneuve was the River Kings first owner.  Mitch left the team after Bernie sold out to the group headed by David Small which resulted the group of four not finishing the season together and Mr. Small exiting leaving the team hanging in limbo.

I hope Brock is successful. He needs a revenue producing contract from the city. He also needs to work things out with the Colts on revenue sharing in regard to rink board advertising as well as in rink advertising. If he doesn’t get all three he will just be pissing his money away, like the last two owners. I think the LNAH is a good fit for Cornwall. But the LNAH must be getting tired of the revolving door ownership here.
