Busy Weekend for SD&G OPP BLOTTER – Monday June 9, 2014

HARASSMENT

(South Dundas) – On June 5th, 2014 SD&G OPP officers began an investigation into a report of harassment at a property on Fifth Street in the Village of Morrisburg, South Dundas Township. Investigation revealed a male had harassed another male.

On June 7th, 2014 at approximately 2:00am, Collin FITZGERALD (35) was arrested at his residence on Caldwell Drive, South Dundas Township. Further information indicated he was in contravention of conditions imposed from a previous incident. He is charged with;

– Criminal Harassment
– Intimidation-Follow from Place to Place
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order

He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) in Cornwall.

 

IMPAIRED DRIVERS

(South Glengarry) – On June 7th, 2014 at approximately 6:45pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on 4th Line Road, South Glengarry Township. A 2008 Toyota had been southbound on County Road 23 when the male driver lost control causing it to roll over. The driver sustained minor injuries. Investigation also indicated that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Peter CONWAY (58) of Dalhousie, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Driving While Impaired
– Driving with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

He was released and scheduled to appear in Alexandria court on June 17th, 2014.
(South Glengarry) – On June 8th, 2014 at approximately 7:15pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a vehicle in the ditch on County Road 2, South Glengarry Township. Investigation revealed the male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Quoc NGUYEN (49) of Montreal, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle
– Fail or Refuse to Provide Sample
– Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Unsealed Container of Liquor (Liquor Licence Act)

He was released and scheduled to appear in Alexandria court on July 9th, 2014.

 

DOMESTICS

(South Dundas) – On June 6th, 2014 at approximately 8:30pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of threats. A male had called police and uttered threats concerning his ex-spouse.

The 45 year old from Cardinal, Ontario was arrested at the Morrisburg OPP Detachment and charged with;

– Utter Threats

He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) in Cornwall.
(North Dundas) – On June 7th, 2014 at approximately 1:30am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Clark Road, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between a male and his spouse resulted in the female being assaulted. The male then left the residence and was located by police in the Village of Mountain

The 25 year old male was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault
– Being Intoxicated in a Public Place (Liquor Licence Act)

He was released and is scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on June 24th, 2014.
(South Glengarry) – On June 7th, 2014 at approximately 8:30am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a domestic situation at a property on County Road 20, South Glengarry Township. Investigation revealed an altercation between a male and his spouse resulted in the female being assaulted and threatened. The accused also caused damage to the home.

The 41 year old male was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault
– Mischief
– Utter Threats

He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) in Cornwall.

 

DRUGS SEIZED

(South Glengarry) – On June 6th, 2014 at approximately 2:30am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a request for assistance at the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) scales on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. A check of a commercial motor vehicle resulted in the seizure of small quantity of suspected marihuana and cannabis resin (hash). Further details also indicated that the male driver was in contravention of conditions imposed from previous incidents.

Raspal KHURAL (29) of Brampton, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Fail to Comply with Recognizance (4 counts)
– Possession of a Controlled Substance (2 counts)

He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) in Cornwall.
(South Glengarry) – On June 8th, 2014 at approximately 7:00am, An SD&G OPP officer had the occasion to stop a vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a small quantity of suspected marihuana and cannabis resin (hash).

Marshall KATZ (20) and Benjamin HALBERSTADT (20) both from Thornhill, Ontario were arrested and each charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance (2 counts)

Both were released and scheduled to appear in Alexandria court on August 6th, 2014.

 

ASSAULT

(South Glengarry) – On June 6th, 2014 at approximately 5:45pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to an out of control male at a residence on County Road 19, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated the male had assaulted a female in the home. The male resisted as officers attempted an arrest. Further details revealed other similar incidents in the past and that the male was bound to conditions from previous occurrences.

The 35 year old male was successfully arrested and is charged with;

– Assault
– Assault with a Weapon (2 counts)

– Assault Peace Officer
– Mischief
– Fail to Comply with Undertaking (5 counts)

He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) in Cornwall.

 

BREAK-INS/THEFTS

(North Glengarry) – On June 8th, 2014 at approximately 8:39am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a break-in at a property on Main Street South in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. Investigation revealed the home owners had observed a male leaving the residence upon their return from an outing. A quantity of cash and jewellery were taken.

The suspect is described as male 5’8”, husky build, wearing glasses and blue jacket. An investigation continues.
(North Glengarry) – Between 02-06June, 2014 a residence on McCormick Road, North Glengarry was forcibly entered. A water cooler, alarm clock and a train set were taken.
An investigation continues.
(North Glengarry) – Overnight 06-07 June, 2014 a residence on Little Third Road, North Glengarry Township was forcibly entered. Information on items taken not currently available. An investigation continues.
(South Glengarry) – Between 03-06June, 2014 a residence on 4th Line Road, South Glengarry Township was forcibly entered. A television and chainsaw were taken from inside. An investigation continues.

***SD&G OPP remind homeowners to be proactive with the safety and security of your homes. Keep landscaping in a condition that provides adequate visibility of the property and ensure proper functioning lights. If away for extended periods of time, assign someone to look after the property. Keep all locks and/or alarms updated and in proper working order. Finally, place all valuables out of sight and in secure locations!

 

SPEEDERS INTERCEPTED
Over the weekend (06-08June, 2014) the following traffic stops were conducted by SD&G OPP officers resulting in the seizure of the involved vehicles and driver’s permits as per legislation.

– 06Jun14, 2:00pm – Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. Vehicle stopped traveling 159km/h (100km/h zone). 35 year old female driver from Woodbridge, Ontario charged.

– 07Jun14, 8:00pm – Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. Two motorcycles stopped traveling 155km/h (100km/h zone). 35 & 40 year old males (brothers) from Alton & Orangeville, Ontario charged.
