Community Improvement Plan Applications are Now Open!
The Township’s first ever Community Improvement Plan (CIP) is now in full swing. Please visit the Township website; Business/Community Improvement Plan to access the application form, or stop by the office to pick one up. The CIP promotes the improvement of existing commercial space and (re)development of underutilized/unutilized lots. It is part of a broader commitment of the Township to enhance the principle assets of its communities, in particular its waterfront, lifestyle advantages and quality of public spaces. Please contact Stephanie Liscomb (613-534-2155 ext. 211) to arrange for a pre-consultation meeting to address application requirements, program eligibility, proposed scope of work, and project timing. Applications close June 30, 2014 (subject to change).

The Eastern Ontario Development Program (EODP)

Are you a business owner looking for funding? The Eastern Ontario Development Program (EODP) aims to enhance and diversify local economies and lead to growth of new and existing businesses within rural Eastern Ontario communities. Cornwall and the Counties Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC) is now accepting applications to access these funds. For more information and to see if your business qualifies, please visit www.mycommunityfutures.ca or contact the EODP Hotline 613-932-4333 (ext. 104) for more information.

FINANCE

Final Property Tax Bills

The final tax bills for 2014 have been mailed and are due in two installments: June 30 and September 30.  The Township invoiced for maintenance on several municipal drains in 2013. If your property falls within the watershed of a municipal drain and maintenance was carried out, you may see a charge under “drains” on your final tax bill. Notices were forwarded in late 2013 to property owners with charges of $20.00 or more.

For your convenience, please be advised of the following methods of payment available:

  • In person at the Town Hall, cash, cheque, debit, etc.

  • Mail cheque or money order to P.O. Box 84, Long Sault, ON K0C 1P0.

  • After hours, access the drop off box beside the front entrance of the Town Hall.

  • Telephone/internet banking.

  • At ABMs (automated bank machines) and at most financial institutions.

  • AND NOW – through the Township’s website with a credit card! Simply select the online services options to make your payment. Please be advised that a 2% convenience fee will be charged.

Please ensure that your method of payment allows sufficient time for processing; payments must be received at the office by the due date. For your information a penalty of 1.25% is added to all outstanding tax accounts the day after the payment due date and continues to be added on the first day of each month until the account is paid in full. Thank you for your cooperation. Should you have any questions, please contact the Town Hall.

Correction Notice

An insert has been included with the 2014 final property tax bills. Please note that under Festivals & Events, Stormont County Fair, the dates should be August 29-September 1 and not September 4-8. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

  • Always keep a water hose or pail of water close by when discharging fireworks.
  • Discharge fireworks well away from combustible materials like buildings, trees and dry grass.
  • Keep onlookers a safe distance away, upwind from the area where fireworks are discharged.
  • Dispose of used fireworks in a metal container.
