Would You Pick Up David Booth on Waivers for Your NHL Team? By Jamie Gilcig

800px-David_Booth_Canucks_practice_2012CFN – The Vancouver Canucks have placed David Booth on Unconditional waivers for the purpose of using one of the get out of jail no penalty compliance buy outs.   I can’t blame them as he’s disappointed, especially at his cap hit vs expectations.

But David Booth has size and some grit notching over 100 hits in what many feel was a sub par season.

College players are always hard to game, but Booth has scored 30 goals once in the NHL.   At 6’1 210 pounds he has size that many teams are desperate for; the Ottawa Senators for one.

If they claim him on waivers they’d only be on the hook for half his salary and cap hit.   That’s pretty reasonable for a player who if healthy should put up 30-50 points with some grit.   Of course that might be attractive to Calgary as well; even Montreal, and many other teams.

David Booth is no Ville Leino.   It should be interesting to see if a waiver claim is place for him.

What do you think Hockey fans?   Would you claim David Booth at half his $4.75M  salary and half his $4.25M cap?  You can post your comments below.
