CORNWALL Ontario – Cornwall River Kings owner Brock Frost today confirmed that the team still has not signed a head coach or single player for the upcoming season in spite of over 200 season tickets being sold for the team.
CFN today also spoke with fan favorite Chris Cloutier who has yet to get the nod to return to the River City. Mr. Cloutier said he was in Cornwall recently hoping to re up with the team and is excited about the chance to get back on the ice in Cornwall.
While GM Mitch Gagne has been making a bunch of moves for player rights while prepping for his move to Ottawa, none of the players have closed the deal and signed a contract.
Mr. Frost had said that there would be an announcement Tuesday regarding the signing of a new coach and six players, but that did not happen.
Brock recently stated that the failure of the last two seasons was on team ownership and not because of other factors including a lack of rink advertising deal.
CFN contacted the LNAH and Denis Boisvert confirmed that Cornwall, Thetford, St-Georges, and Trois-Rivières have yet to sign any players.
UPDATE July 11, 2014
River Kings GM Mitch Gagne quit the team.
