Maple Leafs Make The Best Move of Off Season – Sign David Booth 1 year $1.1M by Jamie Gilcig

jg2CFN – The Toronto Maple Leafs signed 29 year old forward David Booth to a $1.1M 1 year contract today.  I think that balances off the signing of David Clarkson last season.

At that price point if Booth repeats his year of last season they get value as a third liner; but if he returns to form or even close to form they have a steal.

The odds are greater if given the ice time and he doesn’t pick up any major injuries of scoring 25 goals which would make him a solid contributor to the team.

Frankly I’m surprised that the Habs didn’t grab him as they are weak on wing and on size.

At 6′ 200 pounds the Michigan native would surely help as would the 120 hits he inflicted last season.

Booth’s best season was in 2008/09 when he notched 31 goals on 246 shots on goal with 91 hits.   Not too shabby.
