POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY, BREACH

            Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old youth was arrested on July 25th, 2014 and charged with possession of stolen property and breach of undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that during the course of an investigation into a stolen four wheeler it was learned that the youth was in possession of  the stolen vehicle. Police located the youth at a Water Street address and took him into custody. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

OVER 80

            Cornwall, ON – Brent McPhee of Cornwall was arrested on July 25th, 2014 and charged with over 80. It is alleged that on July 25th, 2014 the man was driving his motor vehicle in the area of Pitt Street and Fourth Street while under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop and charged accordingly. He was later released to appear in court on August 6th, 2014.

BREACH

            Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on July 25th, 2014 and charged with breaching his undertaking for not abiding by house rules, breaching curfew and breaching his probation order for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that the youth did not return to his place of residence on July 17th, 2014 and police were contacted to investigate. On July 25th, 2014 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service attended Monkland to assume custody of the youth as O.P.P. had the youth detained during a traffic stop. The youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

            Cornwall, ON – Aden Sullivan, 22 of Cornwall was arrested on July 26th, 2014 and charged with breaching his recognizance for not residing at a specified address and being out past curfew. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of July 26th, 2014 police attended the area of Montreal Road at Prince Arthur for a disturbance. Once on scene police found that  the man was out past curfew and not longer resided at his specified address. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON – A 33-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 26th, 2014 and charged with breaching his probation orders for communicating with someone he has conditions not to and for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on July 25th, 2014 the man sent Facebook massages to his 38-year-old ex-girlfriend despite having conditions to not communicate with her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On July 26th, 2014 the man was spotted riding a bicycle in the area of First Street and Lawrence. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

            Cornwall, ON – Joshua Paquette, 30 of Cornwall was arrested on July 27th, 2014 on the strength of two probation office warrants for failing to appear in court. In the early morning hours of July 27th, 2014 during a traffic stop in the area of the 100 block of Fourth Street East the man was taken into custody on the strength of the warrants. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT

            Cornwall, ON – Corey Sawler, 25 of Cornwall was arrested on July 26th, 2014 and charged with assault. It is alleged that on July 26th, 2014 while at a Lesieux Street address the man grabbed and pushed a 50-year-old woman that was known to him causing her to fall. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on August 26th, 2014.

ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, CRIMINAL HARASSMENT

            Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 26th, 2014 and charged with assault, assault with a weapon and criminal harassment. It is alleged that between September, 2013 and July, 2014 the man threatened to drive his car into a pole while in the company of his wife. On another occasion he threw his wedding ring at his wife striking her under the eye and on a third occasion grabbed her by her thigh and punched her thigh. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On July 26th, 2014 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT, MISCHIEF

            Cornwall, ON – A 25-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on July 27th, 2014 and charged with assault and mischief. It is alleged that on July 27th, 2014 during an argument  the woman punched her 29-year-old common-law husband in the mouth and broke a window. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on August 26th, 2014. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

            Cornwall, ON – Lenka Precechtel, 35 of Cornwall was arrested on July 27th, 2014 and charged with assault with a weapon and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on July 27th, 2014 police attended the area of Brookdale Avenue and Sarah Street for a disturbance call. Once on scene it was learned that the woman struck a 13-year-old youth that was known to her in the arm with a mug. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on August 26th, 2014.

ASSAULT

            Cornwall, ON – Sylvain Marleau, 31 of Cornwall was arrested on July 27th, 2014 and charged with assault. It is alleged that on July 26th, 2014 during a party at a Cumberland Street address the man punched a 35-year-old woman that was known to him in the stomach. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On July 27th, 2014 police located the man at his residence and took him into custody. He was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on August 26th, 2014.

DRUGS SEIZED AT RIDE CHECKS

(South Glengarry) – On July 26th, 2014 at approximately 8:00pm, SD&G OPP officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere (RIDE) checks on County Road 2, South Glengarry Township. A check of a vehicle resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana and methamphetamine pills. Open liquor was also seized.

Roger DOUILLARD (34) of Odden, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance
– Passenger-Fail to Wear Seatbelt Assembly (Highway Traffic Act)

Denise DOUILLARD (51) of Sherbrooke, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance
– Having Open Liquor (Liquor Licence Act)

David DOUILLARD-GENDRON (21) of Sherbrooke, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance (2 counts)

All were released and are scheduled to appear in Alexandria court on September 3rd, 2014.

He was released and is scheduled to appear in Alexandria court on September 3rd, 2014.

 
DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION

(North Glengarry) – On July 25th, 2014 at approximately 8:30pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a property on Boundary Road West in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that a verbal altercation had taken place between an adult male and his girlfriend. Further checks on the male revealed he was in breach of a non-communication condition imposed from a previous incident.

The 22 year old male (from Cornwall) was arrested and is charged with;

– Breach of Recognizance

He was released to appear in Cornwall court at a later date.

 
BREAK-INS-THEFTS

(North Glengarry) – Overnight (25-26Jul14), a residence on Concession 8, North Glengarry Township was entered. Inside, three (3) firearms (shotguns), two (2) laptop computers, a cell phone and assorted tools were removed.
(South Glengarry) – Overnight (25-26Jul14), a residence on Glen Roy Road, South Glengarry Township was entered. Inside, a battery charger, gas cans, assorted and a Stihl grass trimmer were removed.

(South Glengarry) – Overnight (26-27Jul14), a vehicle was damaged while parked at a business property on Tyotown Road, South Glengarry. A window was smashed and inside, culprit(s) removed a large subwoofer for the sound system.

Investigations continue in all of the above incidents

Warrant executed on Briargate Private results in numerous charges

(Ottawa)—Today, the Ottawa Police Service East District Investigation and Tactical Units executed a search warrant during the early morning in the 0 to 100 block of Briargate Private.

The police investigation began in May 2014 when police received complaints from 13 separate women across the Orleans area who were victims of online harassment from a man using the online alias of “Scotty Toppers”.

As a result of the investigation, Nicholas DECARLO, 29 years old of Ottawa, was charged with a variety of offences including:

  • Criminal Harassment
  • Extortion
  • Possession of a firearm
  • Possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of stolen property
  • Possession of break and enter tools
  • Theft
  • Mischief to Data

The following are some of the items that were seized during the search warrant:

  • 2 firearms
  • 2 air pistols
  • Ammunition
  • Approximately one Kilogram of a Schedule 1 Substance
  • Approximately 12 grams of marijuana
  • Multiple scales for weighing drugs
  • Computer equipment related to online harassment and extortion
  • Break and enter tools

He is scheduled to appear in court on July 26, 2014.

The East District Investigation Unit continues to investigate and is concerned that there may be other victims.

Retail store robbery spree leads to charges

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has laid a number of charges in relation to a series of five retail store robberies.

On July 15, 2014, at approximately 2:57 am, a lone male entered a retail store situated in the 300 block of Tompkins Avenue.  The suspect walked into the store, punched the victim, knocking him unconscious. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money as well as numerous cigarettes and subsequently fled the scene leaving the victim unconscious on the floor.

On July 16, 2014, at approximately 3:47 am, a lone male entered a retail store situated in the 100 block Tapiola Crescent area. The suspect, armed with a knife, made verbal demands for money and cigarettes. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money as well as numerous cigarettes.  The suspect tied up the victim and subsequently fled the premises.

On July 13, 2014, at approximately 1:20 am, a lone male entered a retail store situated along the 400 block of Moodie Drive. The suspect made verbal demands for money and cigarettes. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes and fled the premises.

On July 3, 2014 at approximately 1:52 am, a lone male entered a retail store situated along the 400 block of Moodie Drive (same location as July 13). The suspect made verbal demands for money and cigarettes. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes and fled the premises.

On June 24, 2014, at approximately 1:45am, a lone male entered a retail store situated along the 400 block of Moodie Drive (same location as July 3 and 13). The suspect made verbal demands for money and cigarettes. The suspect fled the premises with an undisclosed quantity of cash and cigarettes.

Desmond MANOLAKOS, 25 years old of Ottawa, is charged with the following offences:

  • Five (5) counts of Robbery
  • Five (5) counts of Wearing a disguise
  • One (1) count of Assault causing bodily harm
  • One (1) count of Forcible confinement
  • One (1) count of Uttering threats
  • One (1) count of Possession of a weapon

He is currently in custody and he is scheduled to appear in court on July 31, 2014.
