Cornwall & Region Police Blotter for August 6, 2014 Ottawa Soccer Coach Charged – CPS OPP OPS

OPPRESIDENTIAL FIRE   

(South Glengarry, ON) – On the 02nd of August 2014, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a residential fire on South Branch Road in South Glengarry Township.

South Glengarry Fire Departments from Martintown ,Williamstown and North Lancaster attended the scene and the residence was nearly fully engulfed upon their arrival .

The Century old home and its contents could not be saved. No injuries resulted.

The cause of the fire is not believed to be suspicious at this time.

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLES    

(South Dundas, ON) – On the 03rd of August 2014, SD&G OPP officers responded to a theft complaint on Lakeshore Drive Road in South Dundas Township.

Investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) entered three parked vehicles and took undisclosed amount of cash ,with a wallet containing a drivers ‘licence and a portable DVD player sometime after midnight and noon that same day .

An investigation continues.

MISCHIEF  

(North Stormont, ON) – On the 03rd of August 2014, SD&G OPP officer responded to a report of a mischief to mailbox and Civic number sign on a property on Concession Road 1-2 in North Stormont Township.

The investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) damaged the mail boxes and the Civic number post at the side of the road sometime overnight.

 An investigation continues.

(SouthStormont, ON) – On the 04th of August 2014, SD&G OPP officer responded to a report of a mischief to mailboxes along County Road 36 in South Stormont Township.

The investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) damaged the mail boxes sometime over the weekend.

An investigation continues.

CHARGES LAID  

(South Glengarry, ON) – On the 04th of August 2014, SD&G OPP officers observed a motor vehicle at a high rate of speed on Highway 401 in South Glengarry Township.

 A 1985 Gold Mercedes Benz 300DT was observed at speeds of 157 km/hr and stopped by the officer. The vehicle was impounded for seven (7) days.

Thirty – four (34) year old, Alexan DEMIRDJIAN from Laval, Quebec was charged with:

–       Race motor vehicle on a Highway contrary to Highway Traffic Act of Ontario

The male driver is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Cornwall on the 09th of September 2014.

(South Glengarry, ON) – On the 05th of August 2014, SD&G OPP officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere [R. I. D. E] check point on County Road 2 in South Glengarry Township.

The investigation revealed a male passenger in breach of his Conditional Sentence conditions.

Twenty – two (22) year old, Eric LABRE from Laval, Quebec was arrested and detained.

The male is in custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Cornwall on the 07th of August 2014.

THEFT     

(South Glengarry, ON) – On the 05th of August 2014, SD&G OPP officers responded to a theft of mountain bike at the corner of County Road 2 and Wesley Road in South Glengarry Township.

Investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) took a 2007 Schwinn 7-speed mountain bike sometime after 8:30 pm the evening of the 2nd of August 2014 and the following morning.

An investigation continues.

CHARGES LAID  

(South Glengarry, ON) – On the 06th of August 2014, SD&G OPP officers had occasion to stop a motor vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 401 in South Glengarry Township.

Investigation revealed a male passenger in the motor vehicle was breaching conditions of his release.

Nineteen (19) year old, Justice TAJUDEEN from Montreal, Quebec was charged with:

–       Fail to comply with Recognizance  under the Criminal Code [ 2 counts ]

–       Fail to comply with Probation Order under the Criminal Code [ 2 counts]

The male is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Cornwall on the 21th of August 2014.

CPS

ASSAULT

 

Cornwall, ON – Ronald Kenny, 51 of Martintown was arrested on August 5th, 2014 and charged with assault. It is alleged that on August 1st, 2014 while at the hospital the man pulled the hair of a hospital staff member. Police intervened and an investigation ensued. On August 5th, 2014 police arrested the man and charged him accordingly. He was later released to appear in court on September 2nd, 2014.

 

WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – Darrien White of Akwesasne was arrested on August 5th, 2014 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that on July 15th, 2014 the man failed to attend court for a mischief charge and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On August 5th, 2014 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.

 

THREATS, RESIST ARREST

 

Cornwall, ON – Eric Deschenes, 37 of Cornwall was arrested on August 5th, 2014 and charged with two counts of threats. It is alleged that on August 5th, 2014 during arguments with a 52-year-old woman the man threatened to have someone “do her in”. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was located at a Marlborough Street address and after a brief struggle was taken into custody. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

Soccer Coach charged with 2 counts of both Sexual Assault and Sexual Interference

(Ottawa)- The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section have charged a 24 year old man following incidents during the month of July 2014.  The male, a soccer coach in the east end of Ottawa, sexually assaulted a female minor on two occasions.

The Ottawa Police Service was contacted and after an investigation by the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section, the male was arrested and charged criminally.

The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section have charged Matthew Braithwaite, 24 years of age and of Bourget, with 2 counts of Sexual Assault and 2 counts of Sexual Interference of a Person Under 16 Years of Age.  He is described as a physically fit white male, with blonde hair and clean shaven. He has been held in custody .
