Cornwall, ON – Douglas Anderson, 31 of Cornwall was arrested on August 21st, 2014 and charged with breach of probation and undertaking for failing to notify change of address and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that during an investigation into an unrelated matter police learned that the man moved without notifying police or probation. On August 21st, 2014 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

Cornwall, ON – Blake Atwell, 38 of Cornwall was arrested on August 21st, 2014 and charged with breaching his undertaking for not having his release conditions with him as well as breach of undertaking and probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that during a traffic stop on July 6th, 2014 the man was found to be breaching his undertaking for not having his release conditions with him. As a result an investigation ensued. On August 21st, 2014 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – Dawn Lapensee, 30 of Cornwall was arrested on August 21st, 2014 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that on August 21st, 2014 while police were investigating an unrelated matter it was learned that the woman was wanted on a committal warrant for driving offences. She was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held in custody.

OPP SD&G

POSSESSION OF STOLEN GOODS

(North Glengarry) – On August 21st, 2014 at approximately 8:45am, SD&G OPP officers had the occasion to check a vehicle and its two (2) occupants while parked at a commercial property on Service Road, North Glengarry Township. Investigation revealed both occupants were in breach of several conditions imposed from previous incidents. Police also located and seized stolen property inside the vehicle (laptop/licence plates).

Tyler CHISLETT (23) of Nova Scotia was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (3 counts)
– Fail to Comply with Recognizance (5 counts)

Charity Ann CHAPPELL (28) of Nova Scotia was arrested and is charged with;

– Fail to Comply with Recognizance (4 counts).

Both were held in custody pending an appearance (bail) in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall this date (22Aug14).

FOUR CHARGED IN THEFT

(South Stormont) – On August 20th, 2014 at approximately 12:00, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of suspicious activity at a commercial property on Highway 138, South Stormont Township. Investigation resulted in police intercepting a vehicle containing three (3) adult males and one (1) male youth. Stolen property (gasoline) was also located in the vehicle and seized.

Courtney BOYD (18), Chandler LEROUX (19), Donald RUNIONS (20) and a 16 year old male youth, all from Cornwall, Ontario were arrested and each is charged with;

– Theft Under $5000
– Possession of Break-in Instruments

All were released. The adults are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on October 16th, 2014, the youth onOctober 23rd, 2014.

 

ASSAULT

(South Stormont) – On August 20th, 2014 at approximately 4:45pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a disturbance at a commercial property on County Road 2, South Stormont Township. Investigation revealed an altercation between two (2) adult females resulted in one assaulting the other.

A 61 year old female from Montreal, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault

She was released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on October 2nd, 2014.

 

THEFTS

(South Stormont) – Overnight (18-19Aug14) a commercial property on South Branch Road, South Stormont Township was entered and a large quantity of copper wire was taken.
(North Glengarry) – Overnight (19-20Aug14) an assortment of power tools and construction material were taken from a residence on St-Anne Road, North Glengarry Township. An enclosed trailer was also targeted.

Investigations on both incidents continue.
