IMPAIRED DRIVER
(South Glengarry) – On September 27, 2014 at approximately 4:19pm, an OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD) officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop indicated that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Karl RIEB (80) of Terrebonne, Quebec, was arrested and is charged with;
– Driving Motor Vehicle while Ability Impaired
– Refuse to Provide Breath Sample
– Driving Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available (Liquor Licence Act)
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on October 29, 2014.
DRUGS SEIZED
(South Glengarry) – On September 26, 2014 at approximately 1:48pm, SD&G OPP officers were conducting Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) spotchecks at an off-ramp of Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop of a vehicle resulted in the seizure of a small quantity of suspected marihuana from the adult male passenger.
Alexander BROWN (26) of Montreal, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance
– Passenger – Fail to Properly Wear Seatbelt (Highway Traffic Act)
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on November 1, 2014.
(South Glengarry) – On September 28, 2014 at approximately 1:49pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a request for assistance from Ministry of Transportation (MTO) officers at a traffic stop on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a small quantity of suspected cocaine and marihuana from an adult male in the vehicle.
Justin MOROS (22) of Stoney Creek, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance (2 counts)
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on December 4, 2014.
(South Glengarry) – On September 29, 2014 at approximately 3:26am, SD&G OPP officers intercepted an adult male pedestrian on South Service Road, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a small quantity of suspected marihuana from the male.
Levko PRATER (39) of Montreal, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on December 4, 2014.
BREACH OF CONDITIONS
(South Glengarry) – On September 27, 2014 at approximately 2:28pm, SD&G OPP officers were conducting Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) spotchecks at an off-ramp of Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop of a vehicle revealed that an adult passenger in the vehicle was in breach of conditions imposed from previous incidents.
Matthieu BRUNET (22) of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Fail to Comply with Conditions of an Undertaking (4 counts)
He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on September 29, 2014.
BREAK-INS-THEFTS
(South Stormont) – Between (21-26Sep14), a residence located on Losey Road, South Stormont Township was forcibly entered. Inside; an LG flat screen television, RCA headphones and Nintendo WII were stolen.
(South Glengarry) – Overnight (27-28Sep14) a vehicle was entered while parked at a residence on County Road 17, South Glengarry Township. Several power tools were stolen from inside.
(South Stormont) – Between (27-28Sep14), two (2) air compressors (Coleman & Dewalt) were stolen from a property on Island Road, South Stormont Township.
(South Glengarry) – On September 29, 2014 at approximately 1:47am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of an attempt break-in at a residence on Dundas Street in the Village of Martintown, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that a male suspect had attempted to forcibly enter the home but had fled on foot. He is described as approximately 5’9”-6’2”, wearing dark clothing, including ski mask and gloves.
Investigations continue in all incidents above.
EXCESSIVE SPEEDS
(SD&G) – Over the past weekend, SD&G OPP officers conducting speed measuring enforcement intercepted the following vehicles for excessive speeds. In all cases, the vehicles were impounded and driver’s permits seized for 7 days. All drivers were subsequently charged as per the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in court on future dates.
– 25Sep14 – 9:44pm, vehicle travelling 141km/h (posted 80km/h zone) on Highway 138, North Stormont Township. Male driver (38) – address not available on system, charged.
– 26Sep14 – 6:37pm, vehicle travelling 190km/h (posted 100km/h zone) on Highway 401, South Stormont Township. Male driver (25) from Markham, Ontario charged.
– 27Sep14 – 5:20pm, vehicle travelling 168km/h (posted 100km/h zone) on Highway 401, South Stormont Township. Male driver (31) from Abu Dhabi charged.
– 28Sep14 – 10:03am, vehicle travelling 152km/h (posted 100km/h zone) on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. Male driver (info not available on system) charged.
