Full Moon Fever Hits Police Blotter for Cornwall Ontario – Thursday Sept 11, 2014

Cornwall, ON – Ronald Regnier, 42 of Cornwall was arrested on September 10th, 2014 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that the man failed to attend court for a theft under $5000 charge and a breach charge. As a result a warrant was issued for his arrest. On September 10th, 2014 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service assumed custody of the man from Surete Du Quebec as they had the man in custody and were holding the man for return to Cornwall. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant, transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

 

THEFT UNDER, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Shane Perkins, 20 and a 17-year-old youth both of Cornwall were arrested on September 10th, 2014 and charged with theft under $5000. The youth was also charged with breaching his probation orders for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that sometime between September 9th and 10th, 2014 they removed two bicycles that did not belong to them from a First Street West address. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the youth and the man were arrested and charged accordingly. The youth was held for a bail hearing, while the man was released to appear in court at a future date. The youth’s name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE, FRAUD UNDER $5000

 

Cornwall, ON – Jessyca Coleman, 24 of Cornwall was arrested on September 10th, 2014 and charged with theft of motor vehicle and fraud under $5000. It is alleged that sometime between September 8th and 9th, 2014 a motor vehicle was removed from an Easton Avenue address along with credit cards and personal belongings from other motor vehicles. Police were contacted to investigate and as a result of the investigation Gerald Poitras was arrested on September 9th, 2014 and on September 10th, 2014 the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, MISCHIEF

 

Cornwall, ON – Christopher Varin, 30 of Cornwall was arrested on September 11th, 2014 and charged with assault with a weapon and mischief. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of September 11th, 2014 police were flagged down by security staff at a Montreal Road tavern as they were having issues with a man. Investigation revealed that security staff removed a man from the establishment and while doing so the man swung at them with a mug. The man also kicked the tavern’s sign causing it to be damaged. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE, FRAUD, PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Gerald Poitras, 47 of Cornwall was arrested on September 9th, 2014 and charged with theft of motor vehicle, three counts of fraud under $5000, five counts of property obtained by crime and four counts of breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that sometime between September 8th and September 9th, 2014 the man took a motor vehicle that did not belong to him from an Easton Avenue address. It is also alleged that the man took several credit cards from other motor vehicles that he later used to make purchases. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On September 9th, 2014 during their investigation the man was spotted by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service in the area of Walton Street and McConnell Avenue. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WANTED FEMALE ARRESTED IN CORNWALL (UPDATE)
(South Glengarry) – On September 10, 2014, COLEMAN was arrested in the City of Cornwall. She was held in custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall today (11Sep14)…original release below…

On September 9, 2014 at approximately 6:00am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a break-in to a garage situated at a residence on Paragon Road, South Glengarry Township. Power tools and alcohol were stolen. While in the area, several other residents of Paragon and Rae Roads reported break-ins and thefts from vehicles where cell phones, credit cards, cash, jewellery, tools, food and a GPS were stolen. A total of seven (7) properties were targeted. As a result of the investigation and in partnership with the Cornwall Community Police Service, an adult male was arrested in the City of Cornwall.

Gerald POITRAS (47) of Cornwall is charged with;

– Theft from a Motor Vehicle (4 counts)
– Trespassing at Night (6 counts)
– Break Enter and Theft (2 counts)
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order (7 counts)

He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice today in Cornwall.

MALE CHARGED IN BREAK-IN
(North Glengarry) – Following an ongoing investigation into a reported break-in which occurred on August 8, 2014 at a residence on Centre Street in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township, SD&G OPP have charged a male. The home has been entered and cash, jewellery and personal documents had been removed.

On September 9, 2014 SD&G OPP arrested Alan Jake ROMANIUK (19) of North Glengarry. He is charged with;
– Break Enter and Theft
– Fail to Comply with Conditions

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on October 29, 2014.

 

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION
(South Dundas) – On September 9, 2014 at approximately 10:11pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Riverside Drive in the Village of Morrisburg, South Dundas Township. Investigation revealed that an altercation between an adult male and his spouse resulted in the male assaulting the female.

The 24 year old male was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault
– Fail to Comply with Conditions

He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice today in Cornwall.
