CORNWALL Ontario – Maybe it’s the carnival atmosphere created by new owner Brock Frost or maybe the Hockey Gods simply are not shining, but this year’s Cornwall River Kings find them selves dead last in the LNAH in the early going of the season.
New owner Brock Frost, who’s also running for council; but has not spoken at a single event after complaining about sleep and stress issues, seemed more focus on his River Queens than his players, discounting his roster and fans being on the hook for a limp offering so far in the season.
The Kings sport a 1-3 record with 14 goals for and league leading 186 shots against! Clearly in hockey you get better results when you shoot more than when you’re shot upon. They also lead the LNAH with a whopping -11 goal differential.
The team is 2-36 on the Power play; 10% worse than the next sad sack in the league. It’s penalty kill, at 67% is also league worst.
Mr. Frost answered questions from his stated sleep clinic study where he again refused to categorically state that he’d personally guarantee season ticket holders refunds in the event that the team for any reason didn’t finish the season on his watch, as some in the city suggest that Mr. Frost bought the team as a stunt to help get him elected to council. Mr. Frost, who recently posted that he had 31 straight hours of sleep has stated that he’s been diagnosed with Mini Stroke symptoms which the esteemed Mayo Clinic out line possible life style issues that could trigger them including Smoking, drinking, birth control pills, lack of exercise and abuse of drugs like cocaine. He also stated that he somehow left the Library debate, was rushed by ambulance to the hospital and was released and returned right as rain before the end of the debate in less than 90 minutes.
Fan fave Chris Cloutier has 25 penalty minutes as he chases his total of 277 last season.
What do you think River King fans? Can the team turn it around? Should the team dress the River Queens instead of some of the current roster?
Are there any other promotions that Frosty the Snowman can run to spur success? You can post your comments below.
CFN has confirmed that the sleep clinic that Mr. Frost referred to on facebook does not offer 3 day 2 night testing and that there is a six to eight week wait for any testing. Mr. Frost has not returned our query asking him to prove his public statements.
