CRIMINAL HARASSMENT

 

Cornwall, ON – Nathalie Evans, 43 of Long Sault was arrested on October 30^th, 2014 and charged with criminal harassment. It is alleged that between November 2013 and September 2014 the woman sent several unwanted text messages to a 41-year-old Cornwall woman. It is also alleged that Evans approached the other woman on a couple occasions attempting to have an unwanted discussions. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On October 30^th, 2014 Evans attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date.

 

MISCHIEF, ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 40-year-old man and a 20-year-old man both from Cornwall were arrested along with a 21-year-old man from Bainsville. It is alleged that on October 29^th, 2014 police attended a Second Street address in relation to a mischief complaint. During their investigation it was learned that the 40-year-old man struck his 20-year-old stepson in the face on two occasions during an argument then damaged his sunglasses. The 20-year-old then kicked a motor vehicle belonging to his mother and stepfather causing damage to one of the doors. It was also learned that after the incident the 20-year-old man while holding a bat accompanied by a 21-year-old man holding a knife attended his stepfather’s residence and struck him in the back with the bat during a struggle. During the investigation all three individuals were taken into custody and charged accordingly. The 40-year-old man was released to appear in court on December 2^nd, 2014 while his stepson was released to appear in court on December 9^th, 2014. The 21-year-old man from Bainsville was held for a bail hearing. Their names were not released as it would identify the victim of the mischief.

POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY, FRAUD, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on October 29^th, 2014 and charged with possession of stolen property, fraud and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on September 15^th, 2014 and 16^th, 2014 the woman was in possession of her 65-year-old mother’s banking card without her permission and made several transactions within the city of Cornwall. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On October 29^th, 2014 the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 9^th, 2014. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

SD&G OPP

FRAUD INVESTIGATION

(South Glengarry) – SD&G OPP continue an investigation into a reported fraud at a Service Station located on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. On October 17, 2014 at approximately 11:30pm, two (2) male suspects entered the business and purchased a quantity of gift cards with what is believed to be fraudulent credit cards.

The suspects are described as follows;

1- Adult male, white, 5’6”-5’9”, dark hair, thin build

2-  Adult male, white, 5’8”-5’10”, short brown hair, slim build

Both left the area in a gold/tan coloured older model vehicle with Quebec plates.

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(South Stormont) – On October 31, 2014 at approximately 12:35am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a vehicle fire on Highway 138, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that the vehicle had pulled over to the roadside and Fire Department had put out the fire. Further information revealed that the adult female driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Keirstin SAUCIER-SANBORN (22) of North Stormont Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Driving Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired
– Driving Motor Vehicle With More Than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood
– Fail to Comply with Conditions of an Undertaking (3 Counts)

She was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall today (October 31, 2014).

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATIONS

(South Glengarry) – On October 29, 2014 at approximately 2:23pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on County Road 34, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between a 39-year-old male and his common law spouse resulted in the male assaulting and threatening the female. Further information also revealed an argument has taken place while the couple travelled causing the vehicle to be driven in a dangerous manner.

The male was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault-Spousal
– Utter Threats-Spousal
–  Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall today (October 30, 2014).
(South Dundas) – On October 30, 2014 at approximately 1:20am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on County Road 31, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between a 51-year-old female and her spouse resulted in the female assaulting the male.

The female was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault-Spousal

She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on November 25, 2014.

Ottawa Police Service

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, October 29, 2014             4:10pm

(Ottawa)—On October 28, 2014, at approx. 9:30pm Ottawa Police officers responded to a call from the public about an erratic driver on Riverside Drive near Smyth Road, in Ottawa.

Officers located the vehicle and stopped it on Bank Street near Johnston Road. The driver, who police confirmed was a 32 year old diplomat with full immunity status, exhibited signs of impairment and was detained for Impaired Driving.

The driver refused to provide a breath sample and was subsequently released on an Appearance Notice. He was released into the care of a member of the relevant embassy.

The Ottawa Police investigation into this matter continues.  Officers are in contact with the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada regarding diplomatic status.

There were three males between the ages of 21 to 33 years-old in police cells this morning. The offences involve: mischief, breach of recognizance, and surety removal.

Robbery Suspects Sought

Detectives from the Kingston Police Major Crime Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects who assaulted and robbed a victim on Concession St.

On Wednesday, October 15^th, at approximately 10:30 p.m. the male victim was walking by the intersection of Concession St and Nelson St, where he noticed two males drinking beer and standing out front of the Quick Stop convenience store.

They insulted and then assaulted the victim, stealing both property and a small amount of currency from him. They fled the scene northbound on Kingscourt Ave. The victim received minor injuries. The suspects are described as:

Suspect #1: Male, 6’0”, 150-160 pounds, approximately 25 years of age, goatee, short hair, wearing a black “Tap Out” hat.

Suspect #2: Male, 5’8” – 5’8”, 140-150 pounds, approximately 25 years of age, clean shaven, muscular build, wearing a black ball cap, black jeans, skateboard shoes, black shirt with silver cross on it, and a gold cross chain.

“Operation Restraint” Seatbelt Initiative

On October 29^th, 2014, 11 CORE (Community Oriented Response and Enforcement) officers participated in a two hour directed enforcement blitz ending this month’s STEP initiative which concentrated on seatbelts. A total of 18 provincial offences notices were issued.

The common fine for not wearing a seatbelt, regardless where you are located in the vehicle, is $240. Drivers additionally receive two demerit points added to their driving record.

Three officers patrolled on foot in the downtown core and three other officers rode on motorcycles. A team of six officers concentrated on the intersection of Sir John A Macdonald Blvd and Bath Rd. Two of these officers were positioned at the intersection in plain clothes, identifying violators to four uniformed officers in cruisers stationed in each direction.

The STEP (Selective Traffic and Enforcement Program) for the month of November will be on Red Light violations.
