CFN – Ministry of Labour inspector facing charges in Extortion investigation, Joseph Ah-Hone, 55, Police believe there may be more victims

On Wednesday, June 25, 2014, in the afternoon, the Toronto Police Service received a call for a Fraud in the Markham Road and McNicoll Avenue area.
It is alleged that:
– a Ministry of Labour inspector conducted a safety audit of a business
– he found a number of items not in compliance
– he left the owners to fix them
– he returned and made an improper request for money from the owner
On Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at 2:25 p.m., Joseph Ah-Hone, 55, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:
1) Breach of Trust
2) Accepting a Benefit from Person Having Dealings with Government
3) Extortion
He is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Thursday, December 4, 2014, 2 p.m., room 407.
The Ontario Ministry of Labour reminds the public that inspectors are trained in legislation, policy and procedures and technical requirements. They are Provincial Offences officers and adhere to a code of professionalism. As public servants, they are forbidden to accept money or commissions for any service rendered.
Police believe there may be more victims.

If he simply states that he is sorry and that it is merely all a misunderstanding shouldn’t he get off without any consequences for his actions? Come on now this is Canada and we know how to bend over and take anything. Have we not proved this in the last provincial election.
Besides if we start holding people in the government accountable where would it all end? Do the Canadian thing and it will all go away in a day or so.
