Will Brock Frost Show Up at Council? Angry Fans and Players Vow to Appear Monday Night in Cornwall Ontario by Jamie Gilcig DEC 7, 2014

first river kings fightCORNWALL Ontario – River Kings fans wanting to go see today’s away game will be disappointed as the game will be rescheduled if a new ownership group comes to be.

Last night’s 8-0 loss may be the last chapter in the brief history that was the Cornwall River Kings.  League officials have not responded to our latest queries.

Owner Brock Frost was nowhere to be seen(or Darren Madden) and angry players found out that they would not be paid for today’s away game as had been promised.

The crowd, estimated at less than 800, actually passed the bucket and $1,500 or so was donated to the players again showing the support and love that this city’s residents have for the team and sport.

Angry fans will be going to City Hall Monday night(and from what this writer is hearing a few players too) to see if Mr. Frost shows up.

CFN spoke to a few of our elected officials off the record and they are stunned and amazed.   None could imagine would could be possibly done to Mr. Frost if all of the recent allegations turn out to be true.  One joked that he hopes to sit as far away from him as possible.

Some fans said they would not attend any games until Mr. Frost was clear of the team.  CFN learned though that some of the potential new investors in the club were dismayed by the low turnout.

We will update this saga as more information becomes available.

If you have any information related to Mr. Frost or these events you can email info@cornwallfreenews.com or dial 855 444 1133.

So River King fans.  Do you think Mr. Frost will show up at Monday night’s 7 PM council meeting at 7 PM?   Will he be asked to take a leave of absence until his legal woes are sorted out?   You can post your comment below.

UPDATE 12:09

League officials confirmed that the game is officially not being played.   They are having a league meeting Monday night.

It also was reported that Mr. Frost tried to cash in his bond on the team.

Steve Simoes, River Kings captain  took a shot at Mr. Frost at last night’s game.

Sadly Mr. Simoes or any other of the boys won any of their fist battles either.

So sad all around for players & their fan

I remember when I used to sit down at home and watch a game with my family some people would throw garbage on the ice. Well this time the garbage will be thrown at Frosty instead. This is a real shame that Frosty pulled on the people who elected him and trusted him. I said one time in one of my posts about Frosty and the midget’s beedy little eyes. I never knew Frosty at all but only said that he was educated. Have any of you noticed that those with the educations are those who you cannot trust the… Read more »

Yes Jules. Education should be illegal in Canada. ROLF!

There is no such thing as real education since it is well known as “the deliberate dumbing down of society” and that it sure is dumbing down. Today you see so many people who cannot talk but imitate monkeys and talk like the trashcan Kardashians. Those in high positions think that they can get away with it but it doesn’t matter who you are and how high you are a lot of people will find you out sooner or later. You can run but you cannot hide. Education today is a big scam and boy they sure do scam you… Read more »

Brock Frost AND Darren Madden should be run out of town on the rails. But wait….we can’t do that as Via Rail only goes through Cornwall four times a day. And then Frost and Madden would actually have to show up. Frost must have a large set of cojones to short change the players on their pay for last night and not fulfill his promise to pay for today’s game. Some of the potential new investors in the club were dismayed by the low turnout?? Dismayed? I’d say par for the course. Who wants to support a hockey team that… Read more »

Hello, I have been reading your paper for quite some time and chose not to comment because of the use of nicknames on the message boards. People can say whatever they want from behind a computer using a fake name and I did not feel comfortable engaging in these sorts of conversations. I was thrilled to read that you’ve changed your commenting policy and that everyone will have to provide their full name and email to comment .. Until I read that some people are being ‘grandfathered in’. I do not think this is fair at all – so a… Read more »

“Grandfathering” is not just used for commenting. It is a fair way to do a lot of things. When you buy a house and they change the building codes your house is “grandfathered” in.

Sarah Daigle I can tell you that Jamie is the real thing and as far as some of us posters are concerned who have been posting for a mighty long time “Jamie has our IP addresses as well as our real names and e-mail addresses” and if the Barney Fife PD or anyone of that nature wants to know he has all the info. Relax and read. Jamie has the best newspaper in Cornwall and I say that because I mean what I say. When I post jokes or am serious I mean what I say and most things are… Read more »

@ Sarah Daigle: Great points Sarah. The nastiness that comes with anonymity is seen daily on the freeholder. And while not all those who use pseudonyms talk trash, there are some who are far from objective with there comments.

Sarah Daigle…..you could have been posting all along. I don’t think any newspaper, website, etc. would ever require the use of pseudonym to be able to post.

I sort of agree with Trevor on his latest comments. But what must be remembered is that everyone is entitled to their opinions. Everyone will not agree with everyone else’s opinion. If we all agreed on everything life would be boring.

Admin….change is never easy to accept. Some have still not accepted that we have a new mayor and council.

Hi Jamie, I live in a house w multiple roommates and tenants who share one internet connection. I have not been commenting in the past as I find people attack others on this site, just as I feel you did with your comment back to me. I was just politely trying to raise a point about the new policy, which I think is fantastic btw. I don’t want you to go on the attack, just something to think about. I understand the idea of ‘grandfathering’ things in, but in this particular situation, I don’t think it’s fair to the rest… Read more »

I too Believe that the rules should be for everyone and not just us who like to read and search on CFN. Regardless of first time poster or 10,0000 posts 🙂 Its fair to know who our other fellow posters are as well as who is making the post. (Just my 2 cents)

Hugger, the issue is not about one’s right to there opinion nor is it about whistle blowing or protecting someone’s job. The issue is that some people who comment anonymously are reckless with their comments have no filter and seem to have a lot more to say then they would if they were using there real names.

Sarah Daigle….why would Brock Frost buy the River Kings to help him win a council seat? He would be seen as a saviour by some residents. Abd thus they would vote for him. The same thing goes with governments handing out goodies to areas / ridings just before an election.

Trevor….you’re entitled to your opionion, I’m entitled to mine. Jamie filters all comments, just ask Jules. She has more rejected comments than she has posted ones. If he thinks they don’t belong; rhey don’t get posted. This is Jamie’s baby, he sets the rules. I would be commenting just as much and in the same manner, if when I joined CFN, if the rules were what they are now. But since I had the option of using a pseudonym I chose to do so due to my previous mentioned reasons.

Sarah, Trevor and everyone here for one thing is that Hugger has a very good reason for not saying his real name and the same applies to me because I still have family down in Cornwall and I too am protecting them. I am down in Cornwall often enough and believe me the place hasn’t changed a bit except that it went more backwards than what it was 40 years and more ago. I am telling all of you the truth and I will not hold back and tell you only what you want to hear and that would be… Read more »

Sarah, Trevor and everyone here when I used to post on the toilet paper of record – SF I used the very same pseudonym and I don’t know what they do now because I don’t read that crap nor the other toilet paper of record SN – only Jamies paper. I have used the same pseudonym on other sites but sites that interested me and not news. When I was on Facebook not more than a month or two I used my real name but no picture. I came off not liking that kind of thing. Everybody has their likes… Read more »

Well Jules, thanks for enlightening me …once again. Who better to enlighten me then a non-citizen of Cornwall who has nothing better to do then spend there time on here trashing Cornwall and it’s people. It really is no wonder that you want to use a pseudonym.

Brock Frost and supporters ask why buy a team to get elected, especially if council salary goes to charity. Its a paper Tiger argument as these people crave the political status with the money only a side issue.Former TO mayor Ford is a millionaire but wanted to be political KING. Willie Wise was also an owner/politician and now he is in jail. Here the players are going without pay which is as despicable as major US politicians closing down their campaign and if they lose declare bankruptcy shafting the people they owe money to usually the little guy. Wish all… Read more »

Sarah Daigle, in my opinion, when a individual has the courage to stand and be recognized for an opinion it garners a certain amount of respect. Ultimately you may not share their opinion however you can share mutual respect. Opinions from unidentifiable sources really serve little purpose other than to the person making them. I have never been criticized for using my real name. Being visible simply encourages one to give a second thought to the opinion being offered.

Welcome. I look forward to sharing opinions and ideas.

So Melman, do you think goons who post anonymously are more desireable then those who post their real name?

David Oldham, you have summed it up rather nicely. 🙂

Hugger1

On all the sites (and that is 7 sites) I comment on not one requires the use of your real name. I think requiring the use of your real name is a rarity.

Sarah Daigle said: I have not been commenting in the past as I find people attack others on this site, just as I feel you did with your comment back to me.

All Admin did was ask why your IP address matched another user who posted under her real name.

That was not an attack, that was a legitimate question any organization allowing comments would want to know the answer to….why two (or more) users have the same IP address.

People, from time to time, compare the CFN and Standard Freeholder in regard to comment policy. The craziness on the Freeholder comment section is insane and deplorable at times. But that is explainable. The Freeholder uses an automated comment policy, their comments are not reviewed by a person. If your comments pass their automated filters your comments will appear. On CFN every comment is reviewed by Admin. If for any reason your comment does not pass his approval the comments will not appear. IMHO the method used by CFN is much better.

Goons? I like that.
David, as I said before, it doesn’t take courage to post conservative mainstream views. It’s the people who have non-traditional views who have to be careful. Even you should be able to grasp that concept.
