OPPA Sends Missive Over RCMP Investigation – MARCH 13, 2015 #OPP #OPPA #RCMP

CFN – The Ontario Provincial Police Association sent out information regarding the search warrant executed by the RCMP of a detachment in Barrie Ontario.

In an effort to keep our membership informed, the OPP Association would like to provide you with additional information related to the search warrant that was executed at 199 Ferris Lane in Barrie on March 6. The Association would like to point out that the RCMP investigation is in early stages, and that no charges have been laid. The warrant alleges “there are reasonable grounds for believing that the following offences have been committed:”

–          Section 322 Theft Criminal Code;

–          Section 36 Criminal Breach of Trust Criminal Code;

–          Section 380 (1) Fraud Criminal Code;

–          Section 462.31 Laundering the Proceeds of Crime Criminal Code; and

–          Section 341 Fraudulent Concealment Criminal Code;

In addition, an internal investigation is being conducted by the independent legal firm of Stikeman Elliott. Counsel from Stikeman Elliot is conducting the investigation under the oversight of the Acting CAO, Michael Briscoe.

The Information to Obtain the search warrant remains sealed by the court. The OPPA will have to advance knowledge of the contents of this document. As such, the Association will not be able to provide any information prior to its release.

The day to day operation of the Association continues with member services being out priority.

  1. Not good when one police service is investigating another police service member association.

  2. Pretty sure the RCMP will conduct the investigation thoroughly and carefully, especially now that the public knows about it.

  3. Here,s hoping that the RCMP will give their best investigation that is possible,either way OPP have already lost the trust & respect of all Ontario.

  5. 4 policeman were also run down by car before shots were fired,but they should not have been there,the burial ground was indeed found to be there in Ipperwash. My own brother who is a retired St Catherines City police officer stated to me that police today do not have the respect that they once had,sad that some police actions paint a brush for them all.
