CCPS LOGOWARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – A 35-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 15th, 2015 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that the man was wanted on a warrant for harassing his ex-common-law wife and for threatening to kill her family. On May 15th, 2015 the man was spotted in the area of First Street and Gloucester Street by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant during a traffic stop and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

ASSAULT, OVERCOME RESISTANCE

 

Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 15th, 2015 and charged with two counts of assault and one count of overcome resistance (choking). It is alleged that between December, 2011 and February, 2015 the man assaulted his 22-year-old common-law wife on two occasions and choked her on another occasion. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was arrested at the Cornwall Courthouse as he was there on unrelated matters. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – John Laffin, 53 of Cornwall was arrested on May 16th, 2015 and charged with breaching his undertaking for being in the company of someone who has a criminal record. He was also charged with breaching his undertaking and two probation orders for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that during a traffic stop on May 16th, 2015 the man was found to be in the company of someone who had a criminal record. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

ASSAULT, FORCIBLE CONFINEMENT

 

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 16th, 2015 and charged with assault, forcible confinement and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that during an argument in the early morning hours of May 16th, 2015 the man assaulted his 18-year-old girlfriend by way of pushing and punching her. He also prevented her from leaving the residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was located a short distance away, taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Patrick Nesbitt, 26 of Cornwall was arrested on May 16th, 2015 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of recognizance for communicating with someone he has conditions not to communicate with and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on May 16th, 2015 the man entered a Second Street East store and selected merchandise making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. He was stopped by the Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. He was taken into custody and found to have been in company with someone he has conditions not to associate with. He was charged accordingly and held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

THREATS

 

Cornwall, ON – Lisa Laundrie, 42 of Cornwall was arrested on May 18th, 2015 and charged with threats. It is alleged that on May 18th, 2015 the woman threatened to kill another woman known to her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 16th, 2015.

 

WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – Michael McEwen, 41 of Cornwall was arrested on May 18th, 2015 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that the man failed to attend court on April 9th, 2015 for a breach charge and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On May 18th, 2015 the man was located at his residence, taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.
